ING is looking for a Financial Risk OfficerIPC

The Financial Risk department sets and controls the financial risk strategy across the bank by living its purpose of safeguarding ING’s financial health. The department provides strategic guidance on financial risk (in trading and banking books and related to the ING balance sheet), safeguards regulatory compliance, is responsible for model development for banking and trading risk and acts as risk manager for Treasury activities globally.

The Balance Sheet Risk department within FR looks after the risks in the entire Bank’s balance sheet. The department covers all financial related risks and will also be involved in the optimisation of positions on the balance sheet based on Regulatory and Economic Capital.

The purpose of the Balance Sheet Risk department is:

  • Coordination, execution and/or consolidation of overarching Balance Sheet (Trading and Banking) Risk activities

  • Provide guidance to the global FR organisation to ensure compliance and consistency in the execution of the risk management function between Trading and Banking Risk, including data and infrastructure

  • Pro-active risk analysis and advice for overarching Financial Risks and related capital requirements

  • Strategic guidance on new FR regulations and safeguard regulatory compliance

  • Overarching non-core risk management and process control activities

The department includes a Process Control team who support the overarching non-core risk operational activities. We are looking for a Financial Risk Officer for the team who will contribute to the overarching non-core risk management processes and controls including general business support.

The preferred candidates are professionals in financial risk with strong process and analytical skills.

What does a Financial Risk Officer IPC do?

As Financial Risk Officer, you will play a key role in supporting and driving forward our strategy, priorities and change initiatives and aligning these to ING’s overall direction. Your excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are key to maintaining good relations with our stakeholders, other risk teams in head-office as well as in locations, Finance and NFR functions.

In this role you will contribute to analysis and advice regarding overarching non-core financial risk management processes within Financial Risk, general Financial Risk related activities and processes as well as the non-financial framework within Financial Risk.

Activities in your scope include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the FR QBR management process.

  • Contribute to managing the FR SoX processes and Non-Financial Risk frameworks

  • Contribute to improved design and effectiveness of Financial Risk (operational) processes

  • Contribute to Financial Risk overarching change initiatives

  • Support on effective data (quality) management and related control framework

  • Participate in ad hoc high priority requests from inside or outside FR

You will work closely with a wide variety of different people such as Risk Managers (globally), Finance, Senior Management, Internal and External Audit and Regulators.

  • An experienced professional with an up-to-date high-level understanding of financial risk management

  • Academic degree

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in the banking industry specifically in a financial risk, operational risk or (risk) audit area.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience and affinity with agile way of working.

Additionally, you should have

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to details, translating complex matters into simple and concise terms for senior management

  • Result-driven and able to push things forward in a persistent and constructive manner

  • The ability to challenge the status quo

  • Great team player skills with a hands-on mentality

  • And of course, you should be fluent in English
