ESG Consultant (Business Analyst)

As member of the ESG team, you participate in the regular update and implementation of ING Belgium's "Low carbon society for all" sustainability strategy. You will work on projects with our stakeholders across the entire bank. You will help the delivery of new sustainable finance products and client engagement plans with the business lines; on our ESG disclosures; on the ESG risk framework implementation, on employee engagement, on philanthropy strategy, on green IT and many other projects.

Your role & work environment
As a Business Analyst you will play a crucial role in ING’s strategic priority “Sustainability at the heart” by supporting
the tribes, functions & teams in embedding sustainability in their activities and by contributing to expand the organization’s sustainability expertise. You will be responsible to support the execution of ING Belgium’s Sustainability ambition by delivering valuable insights to both your colleagues and our clients.


For this position you will join as a Business Analyst the ING Belgium ESG Team (Centre of Expertise). Here you will be part of a flexible environment by being a member of a multidisciplinary team of 3 professionals. Their main mission is to “Put sustainability at the heart of what we do” with the ambition to build a “low carbon society for all” in Belgium.

Your key responsibilities
Support the ESG team in the ING Belgium ESG programme delivery
To do so you will connect with some of the ING Belgium workstreams involved in the ESG programme (Business lines, Risk, Data & reporting, Green IT, HR, Communication, Facilities management) and support them in the delivery, together with the ESG team on the execution of their milestones and on the dynamic follow-up of their roadmap.
You will also contribute to the regular ESG Obeya room, by supporting the various ESG workstreams to collect the ESG KPIs and metrics and the updates on ESG deliverables, analyzing the performance and potential impediments.
• Produce content insights for internal & external communication, roadshow, client events, etc
To do so you will connect, exchange and seek information, including ESG data, from various internal expert teams and sources, such as economic research, ING Think, ING Global Sustainability (including Terra team, Biodiversity, Human Rights, Financial Health, Stakeholder Engagement, etc), ESG Risk, Business Lines, at Group and country levels
To do so you will also connect and seek information, including ESG data, from external sources, such as Febelfin, NBB, Regulators’ publications, sector publications, consultants, UNEP FI, NGOs, conferences, PCAF, etc.

• You will help the ESG team absorbing the information and extracting what is useful for the various parts of the ING Belgium organization in a data-driven, user-friendly and impactful way.
You will help the ESG team enriching the absorbed information with ESG data to objectivize & quantify the messages to be given.
You will help the ESG Team preparing specific ESG updates for the different business lines (Private
Individuals, Business Banking, Wholesale Banking) and functions, for relevant stakeholders, including the executive committee, client events, Sustainability events, ESG surveys/questionnaires, interviews and speaker opportunities.
Communication material and presentations will result from applying the right visualization techniques, from adopting the storyline and message to the needs and context of the stakeholders and will ensure a clear, concise and convincing communication style

As a Business Analyst in the ESG team you will also need to have following qualifications and competences:
Master’s degree in Business Management, Economics, Engineering, Sciences, law or alike, and/or equivalent experience of 3 years. Preferably, you will also have a degree or certificate in the areas of Sustainability
Be passionate and driven by sustainability
Eager to learn: constantly acquiring knowledge about sustainability, sustainable finance, technology, regulations, clients’ sustainability and transition activities
Strong focus on delivery
Strong knowledge of Microsoft tools supporting data work and presentation techniques
Analytical: curious, constantly looking for an explanation, analyzing sharply, able to use data
Take ownership on tasks assigned: you are organized and structured, able to work autonomously and to multi-task
Collaborative, strong team player, easy-to work with and to connect with, you demonstrate empathy and good listening skills
Excellent knowledge of English: oral and written
