Mission

As a Development & Integration Engineer you will play the important role of developing business logic and build integrations with existing systems and platforms to provide capabilities like voice, video, chat and chatbot to our ING customers.

The role covers both coding skills (using an internal DSL based on Scala) and integration activities with multiple internal systems (APIs, firewalls, configurations etc).

You’ll join an inspiring and curious team of technologists dedicated to improving the design, analytics, NLU, development, coding, testing and application programming that goes into creating high quality software and new products for our Contact Center.

Your day to day

  • Working Agile with a continuous improvement mindset in a cross-functional international environment to understand customer and business needs
  • Maintain and develop new programs and call/chat flows according to a set of coding & security standards using our internal Scala based DLS framework (eg.: routing specific calls to an agent based on specific rules)
  • Implement, integrate and document a variety of software platforms through the REST API framework with various ING platforms using APIs:
    • Define and develop new APIs for new business purpose integrations
    • Integrate call and chat flows with our in-house build  Virtual Assistant API
    • Integrate business logic with Twilio services (e.g. TwiML, Programable Voice/Chat) or Google Cloud Platform ( Google Dialog Flow)
    • Taking care of networking & infrastructure deployments ( firewalls, connection etc)
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps to automate the deployments where possible
  • Write object-oriented, clean, and maintainable code and keep the technical documentation up-to-date with new/ changed technical design details during implementation
  • Create dashboards using internal tools (e.g. Promotheus, Zabbix) used for observability, monitoring and alerting
  • Provide technical insight and actively participate in feature analysis and estimations
  • Troubleshoot issues and solve problems, identify potential process improvement areas, acting as 3rd line support; develop fixes and procedures for 2nd line support
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholder customer journeys, data scientists, machine learning engineers, cloud engineers to be able to seamless integrate chatbots into existing systems and platforms (Google Cloud Platform, Virtual Assistant API, Twilio etc)
  • Anticipate and manage security risks in a sensible environment as the banking industry

What you bring to the team

  • Master’s degree in mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, Statistics or alike with 2-3 years of experience
  • A desire to learn new technologies and evolve with an ever-changing industry
  • Proven ability to write well-engineered code (using languages such as: Scala, Java or Python)
  • Minimum 2-3 years in developing RESTful APIs including authentication methods and knowledge of Restful API design patterns
  • Interact with Low code/ no code solution capabilities (Machine Learning, API design and development)
  • Unnegotiable: Experience with version control systems (Git) and with CI/CD delivery tools (we use Azure)
  • Research, recommend and implement tools as needed with the goal of increasing automation
  • Be meticulous about documentation and maintaining a robust log of all test cases and test results
  • Very good communication skills and a great team player, highly motivated, self-drive
  • To be capable to take decisions at tactical level and therefore build a trusted relationship with your squad members and cross-functional teams within ING group
  • Professional working language proficiency in English

Nice to know

  • Experience in building virtual assistants on a cloud platform (e.g., Google Cloud Platform) or previous work on Twilio/Cisco integrations is a strong plus
  • Experience with AI/ML concepts (NLP, NLU) required for conversational AI (chatbots/ voicebots).
