Applying at ING

How can I apply for a role at ING?

All applications must be submitted through this Careers website. This ensures your data is handled securely and reaches the right recruiters.

Can I apply by email?

No. ING does not process applications that arrive by email. Due to the GDPR rules and regulations we cannot progress any application outside this website. Please always use this official ING Careers website so we can review your profile safely and consistently.

Can I apply for multiple roles?

Yes. If several roles fit your interests and experience, feel free to apply to more than one.

What should I include in my application?

A clear CV and we also recommend adding a motivation letter. Focus on relevant experience, skills, and the impact you’ve made. We value authenticity; tell us what drives you.

I don’t meet every requirement. Should I still apply?

Yes. We know potential comes in many forms. If your skills and mindset align with the role, we encourage you to apply. A strong motivation letter can make a difference. Use it as a great opportunity to highlight your strengths and explain why you’re a valuable addition, even if you don’t meet every requirement.

Can I submit an open application or have an introduction call about my profile?

At ING, we want to make sure every candidate has an equal and clear opportunity to apply for roles that genuinely match their skills and ambitions. For that reason, we don’t offer open applications or introduction calls. The best way to be considered is to apply directly to the vacancy that fits you most. All our current opportunities are published on the ING Careers website, and new roles are added regularly.

How do I know ING received my application?

You will receive an automatic confirmation via email once your application is successfully submitted.

What language do I need to speak?

English is the main business language at ING. Some roles require Dutch/local language as well; this will be clearly stated in the job description.

Does ING sponsor visas?

For some roles, yes. Requirements vary based on your background and the team’s needs.

Do you offer relocation support?

Relocation support is available for some positions. Details will be shared by the recruiter.

Do you offer internships, traineeships, or graduate programs?

Yes, ING offers various early-career programs.

What happens after you apply

Who reviews my application? Your application is reviewed first by an ING recruiter. If we see a strong match between your profile and the role, we will contact you for a screening call.

How long does the recruitment process take?
Our recruitment process is designed to be fast, fair, and transparent. Timelines can vary by role, but most candidates can expect the following:

Application review - up to 5 business days

A recruiter reviews your application and checks how well it matches the role. If there’s a good match, the recruiter will contact you for a screening.

Hiring manager review - up to 3 business days

The hiring manager evaluates your profile after the recruiter’s recommendation.

Interview(s) - usually within 5 business days

Interviews are scheduled as soon as agendas allow, typically within a week.

Outcome - within 3 business days

After your interview(s), you’ll receive an offer or decline as quickly as possible.

What happens if I am not selected? You’ll receive a notification. We encourage you to explore other matches, sometimes timing or team fit plays a role. We’d also like to invite you to our Talent Community. Please sign up here.

Why did I receive a standard rejection without personal feedback?
We understand that feedback can be valuable when you’re exploring new opportunities. Because we receive a high number of applications, it’s unfortunately not always possible to provide personalised feedback for every candidate. Our standard responses help us ensure that everyone receives a timely update. When you progress further in the process, we aim to provide more detailed and personalised feedback.

How long can I apply for a role while it’s posted?
You can apply as long as the vacancy is published online. We recommend applying as early as possible if a role interests you.

Interview process

What does ING’s interview process look like? Generally, our interview process consists of two interview rounds. In some situations, an assessment or case might be part of the interview process.

Are interviews online or in person? Even though we prefer to meet you face to face, due to the global nature of our company it can be more pragmatic to organise the interviews online.

Who will I meet during interviews? The interview panel generally consists of the hiring manager, other leads in the department and future team members.

Will I have to complete a case or assessment? Some roles include a case, technical task, or assessment. You will be notified by the recruiter if this is part of your interview process.

How can I prepare?

  • Review the role and ING's values.
  • Think of examples that show your skills using the STARR method.
  • Be ready to ask questions, curiosity is part of our Freedom Mindset.
