Financial Markets (FM) is the Bank’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. Our primary function is to service the needs of ING’s clients with products, services and guidance. FM aims to be a significant player in our market leader and challenger markets, with an additional presence in all the major international markets and specialist expertise in selected emerging markets and products.

Your role

The FM MC Sales desk is the first point of contact for our Business Banking teams and our clients. As Senior Sales you are responsible to build strong internal relationships with senior management, to structure new transactions and guide the more junior colleagues on the desk.

As Senior Sales you will have a deep knowledge and understanding of our Business Banking value proposition. You will be in the frontline of our business, and not only act as a first point of contact for our clients, but also as a strategic sparring partner for our internal stakeholders. Within the bank these are:  the NL regions, Risk, Lending, Compliance, Legal and Strategic Products. In addition, you will be responsible to manage and supervise the (IR) business in a compliant way to protect ING against any operational and reputational risks.

To match our setup and activities with the renewed approach around lending and IR derivatives and to increase the focus on cross-buy we re-designed our sales operating model. The day-to-day straight forward execution (FX, MM is fully digitized and or outsourced to other desks).

As Senior Sales you will support the Desk Lead by the full transition to an environment in which we sell mainly complex, non-flow and loan linked / strategic products. You act as FM Deal principle and instead of covering more flow type of deals you need to take the lead, ownership and full responsibility to deliver on this strategic initiative. 

Your key responsibilities, You:

  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with the clients in your portfolio.
  • Liaise with clients on industry developments like sustainability, regulation and innovation.
  • Will have a deep knowledge of Loan Linked IR transactions and related documentation.
  • Are able to support, supervise and coach team members on non-flow and add value to more complex products & services.
  • Are a Strategic (Financial Risk) related partner for our NL Business Banking teams.
  • Act as FM Deal principle: Managing and leading the full process (A to Z), including pre-lead, pitching and execution. Effectively and efficiently in combination with your colleagues in the deal teams across various departments.
  • Focus on restructuring and portfolio optimization of existing lending and swap exposures
  • Will be responsible to improve and maximize the cross-buy of FM solutions, as such you can establish cooperation / bridges with other ING internal stakeholders.
  • Continuously identify, propose and implement innovative or alternative ideas (via Risk Analytics) to improve the customer journey and/or the ING BB value proposition. *Maintain relationships with other FM stakeholders like Legal, Compliance, Risk.
  • Are responsible to pro-actively monitor our electronic FX flow via our newly rollout AI drives tooling. All to improve performance and to optimize return for FM/ING.
  • Operate under our KYC guidelines and ING Orange Code

As a FM MC Sales you will also need

  • Experienced Financial Markets professional, academic working/thinking level (degree in economics, and/or CFA or equivalent Bachelor/Master degree)
  • Minimal 5 years of working experience
  • Language skills Dutch & English, both written and verbal
  • Strong commercial skills (this applies to both internal and external contacts)
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to translate client challenges into product driven solutions
  • Experience in high value-added derivatives sales & a proven track record of generating FM revenues this product
  • Strong PowerPoint / Excel skillset
  • Solid knowledge of Financial Markets and related instruments / products is considered essential
