In the Cloud tribe, in the Data Services area a position of Product Manager (Product Owner) for Elastic Stack as a Service (ELKaaS) has become available.

The team

The purpose of the Global Tribe Cloud is to build and run the target infrastructure platform in a (private) cloud delivery model. This delivery model is based on multi-tenant, self-service, pay-per-use capabilities for application DevOps teams as defined in the One Way of Working.

Tribe Cloud comprises five Global Areas:

• Infrastructure as a Service
• Data Services
• Platform as a Service
• Cloud API Platform
• Onboarding and Customer Experience

The ELKaaS service that we offer is part of the Area Data Services. The Area Data Services consists of colleagues working in the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Germany and India. Currently the engineers in the ELKaaS squad are in Germany and Poland. As ING appreciates the idea of working from home, there is no requirement to be based in Germany or Poland. We consider it important for the team to meet up once in a couple months, so some travel might be involved in this position. And of course, you will also be invited to our yearly internal cloud conference in Amsterdam.

Role and responsibilities

With your pragmatic and delivery-oriented professional attitude, you put your background and experience to good use as Product Manager for ELKaaS.

Together with the squad, the architect and IT Area Lead you prioritize, set the goals and work on a technical strategy to achieve those goals. You take ownership for the agreed solution, ensuring that solutions are delivered and meet customer and business needs whilst adhering to legal, risk and compliance requirements of the bank.

You will not be HR responsible for the engineers in the squad, because that responsibility lies with the chapter leads.

Key responsibilities

Together with the squad you are responsible for the future of the ELKaaS offering and for staying within our risk appetite:

• Providing clarity to the team with clear goals.
• Manage risk on the service/product you provide.
• Manage the delivery roadmap of the product, which will require much alignment with other squads, in NL and outside NL. This requires a product vision which has the customer as the focus, while maintaining a standardized solution.
• Take ownership of the product backlog by creating user stories and features with business value identified on each item.
• Keep the stakeholders informed on the Product Roadmap and the progress of the feature delivery and upcoming releases. This includes communication on impediments and incidents.
• Together with 10 other Product Managers of Area Data Services you will be in risk and portfolio wall meetings, where you will share progress, challenges and lessons learned.
• Work together with our chapter leads to make sure the squad consists of the right people and is performing well.

You are an energetic and proactive Product Manager with a true passion for IT and a positive “Do it-Try it-Fix it” mentality. You have good understanding of Software Engineering and CI/CD. You are a natural team player who forms relationships based on social skills rather than hierarchical structure. You can easily switch context from engineers to auditors to management.

Our ideal new colleague has:

• Experience with data products. Experience with Elastic Stack is an advantage.
• Experience as a Product Manager/ Agile Business Analyst within an international, complex, technology based agile environment.
• Experience in analysis, strong documentation skills and good ability to break down requirements into epics and user stories.
• An inspiring passion in your presentations and in interactions with stakeholders.
• A basic understanding of technology languages and applications.
• Experience with our ING Private Cloud (IPC) infrastructure is an advantage, but of course this cannot be expected from candidates coming from outside ING.
• Higher education, technology related. Or work experience that demonstrates you operate on this level.
• Excellent command of English language.
