Job Title: KYC Data Steward

We are seeking a dedicated KYC Data Steward to join our tribe and play a central role in ensuring the quality, compliance, and governance of data related to Know Your Customer (KYC) processes.

This role involves understanding and managing data characteristics, defining business terms, and ensuring data quality and regulatory compliance.

The KYC Data Steward will work closely with various stakeholders to support data governance, data quality, and data privacy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance

  • Understand and manage the characteristics of KYC data to ensure proper ownership and accurate definition of business terms.
  • Identify operational and Business Intelligence data requirements within the KYC domain.
  • Participate in the onboarding of data sources into the Data Lake, defining business terms in the Information Governance Catalogue (IGC), and ensuring data quality requirements are met.

Data Quality

  • Promote continuous improvement and changes driven by data quality and data risk requirements.
  • Measure and analyse data quality, manage data issues, and ensure execution of data quality requirements.
  • Validate and monitor data quality rules, ensuring they meet regulatory and business needs.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal data policies, including GDPR, BCBS 239, and other relevant standards.
  • Implement procedures to safeguard data security, privacy, and quality, and perform periodic compliance checks.

Data Definition & Traceability

  • Maintain up-to-date data definitions and descriptions in the IGC.
  • Align business terms with minimum requirements, including data owner tagging and privacy classification.
  • Ensure data traceability and maintain data architecture in collaboration with the data management squad.

Data Exchange Agreements

  • Initiate and manage Data Usage Agreements (DUAs) for KYC initiatives.
  • Perform annual reviews of DUAs and create necessary documentation for regulatory compliance.

Data Privacy

  • Maintain processes for GDPR compliance, including Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) and Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA).
  • Conduct yearly reviews of Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIA) and DPIAs.
  • Draw up Data Retention Plan and work with stakeholders involved to ensure customer data is not kept and used beyond the retention period defined by the Legal and Compliance department.

Key Control Activities

  • Data Ownership & Classification: Provide inputs during the intake phase for business requirements and facilitate risk classification.
  • Data Mapping: Align technical fields with business terms and ensure data mapping accuracy.
  • Data Architecture: Ensure data architecture is up-to-date and approved by relevant authorities.
  • Data Quality Monitoring: Monitor data quality results and follow up on data quality issues with key stakeholders.
  • Data Due diligence: Ensure that the use and storage of KYC data complies with the ING’s internal rules and all applicable legislation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • minimum 5 years of experience e in data stewardship, data governance, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of data quality principles, regulatory requirements, and data privacy standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
