Our tech capabilities remain the core of our business, with more than 1800 colleagues active in Data and Analytics Tech, Tech Foundation and Channels, Retail Core Banking and Architecture, and Global Products and Technology Services.

We enjoy a flexible way of working and a highly collaborative environment, where fair and constructive feedback is encouraged.

For us, impact isn't a perk. It's the driver of our work. We are guided and rewarded by a shared desire to make the world a better place, one innovative solution at a time. Our colleagues make it their job to do impactful things and they love doing it in good company. Do you?

The Mission

You will own and grow ING’s Open Banking API Platform end‑to‑end. This includes managing the developer portal, API catalogue, governance standards, onboarding journeys, operational service quality, and ecosystem adoption. You act as the “spider in the web”, aligning product, technology, risk, compliance, and country organizations to deliver a secure, compliant, scalable platform for real-time financial services.

You report hierarchically to the IT Area Lead (ITAL) and functionally to the Product Lead, working closely with squads, Product Area Leads, architects, risk functions, and API-producing domains such as Payments and Lending.

Your day to day

  • Lead API onboarding for internal and external consumers, ensuring frictionless access and regulatory compliance;
  • Drive adoption and reuse of APIs across countries, business lines, partners, and third-party developers;
  • Monitor product performance, usage, reliability, and ROI; translate data and user feedback into improvements;
  • Governance & Architecture;
  • Develop and enforce API governance, including naming standards, documentation quality, versioning, and deprecation policies;
  • Facilitate API design reviews and ensure alignment with architectural and security standards;
  • Promote standardization and reusable patterns across the organization.

Service Ownership

  • Manage service operations, SLAs, and incident resolution across API producers and consumers;
  • Monitor volumes, performance, and control standards; report insights to PSS leadership and service stakeholders;
  • Lead service review meetings and steer continuous improvement;
  • Ensure compliance with PSD2, GDPR, eIDAS and ING internal risk frameworks.

Ecosystem Development

  • Evangelize Open Banking capabilities internally and externally;
  • Support onboarding, enablement, training, and documentation for ING teams and external developers;
  • Explore new opportunities such as AI-powered APIs and event-driven integrations.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, Service Owner, or Platform PM within technology, developer platforms, or APIs;
  • Strong understanding of REST/JSON APIs, API gateways, developer portals, lifecycle governance, and platform telemetry;
  • Experience balancing product strategy with operational excellence (SLAs, incidents, compliance);
  • Ability to work with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Tax, and Architecture in regulated environments;
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively influence and collaborate with global teams and senior stakeholders, even without direct authority;
