The mission

We're looking for a Senior Data & AnalyticsEngineerto join the Investment Tribe. This role is primarily focused on data pipelines and business data translation (70%) with a complementary focus on advanced analytics and business insights (30%).

You will play a key role in shaping the investment data landscape, enabling strategic decision-making, supporting regulatory initiatives, and driving data-driven innovation across investment products and customer journeys.

Your day to day

Analytics Engineering & Business Data Translation

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, investment product owners, and cross-functional squads to understand business objectives, processes, and data needs.

• Translate business requirements into scalable data models, engineering specifications, and end-to-end data solutions.

• Design, build, and optimize robust data pipelines and data transformation frameworks supporting investment use cases. Develop and maintain high-quality, reusable, and scalable datasets aligned with enterprise data standards.

• Ensure data consistency, lineage, governance, and quality across investment data domains.

• Work closely withengineers,and platform teams to implement modern data engineering practices.

• Drive automation of data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reporting workflows.

• Support regulatory, risk, and compliance reporting through reliable and governed data assets.

• Contribute to the evolution of ING Belgium’s investment data strategy and data platform capabilities.

• Enable self-service analytics by delivering trusted semantic layers, curated datasets, and scalable reporting foundations.

• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, data reliability, and operational efficiency.

• Partner with business and technology teams to define KPIs, business rules, and data definitions.

• Document functional and technical data flows, business logic, and transformation rules.

• Promote best practices in data engineering, data governance, and agile delivery.

Data Analytics & Insights (30%)

• Perform advanced data analysis to support commercial, strategic, and operational decision-making.

• Develop dashboards, KPI reporting, and analytical solutions for investment product performance and customer behavior.

• Deliver actionable insights on investment trends, portfolio performance, sales performance, and customer engagement.

• Support stakeholders with ad-hoc analysis and business performance monitoring.

• Translate analytical findings into clear recommendations for business and leadership teams.

• Contribute to predictive analytics and trend analysis initiatives where relevant.

• Promote a strong data-driven culture and improve data literacy within the Investment Tribe.

What you'll bring to the team

Skills & experience:

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data analytics, or data management within financial services, banking, investment, or wealth management environments.

• Strong expertise in translating business requirements into technical data solutions and scalable engineering deliverables.

• Advanced SQL expertise with strong hands-on experience in data transformation and optimization.

• Strong experience with modern data engineering concepts including ETL/ELT, data modeling, orchestration, and pipeline automation.

• Proficiency in analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Excel, and SASand familiarity with Python.

• Experience working with investment data including mutual funds, ETFs, discretionary portfolios, and related performance metrics.

• Solid understanding of data governance, data quality management, and metadata management principles.

• Proven experience working in agile environments with cross-functional teams.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to connect business processes, data structures, and customer behavior.

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud-based data platforms and enterprise data ecosystems.

• Knowledge of regulatory reporting and financial data controls within banking or investment domains.

• Exposure to predictive analytics, machine learning, or advanced statistical analysis.

• Experience designing scalable semantic models and reusable analytical data products.

• Ability to coach, mentor, and support teams in adopting data-driven ways of working.

• Strong curiosity and passion for understanding data flows, systems, and business processes end-to-end.
