The Mission

The ING Pricing Architecture (IPA) platform consists of multiple components that enable real-time and batch calculations of financial risk metrics and simulations (e.g. XVA,PFE, Value at Risk, Expected Shortfall, Bilateral Margining, pre-deal derivatives Pricing) which are driven by new banking regulations as well as advanced Risk analysis on the derivative product portfolio of Financial Markets (interest rates, credits, foreign exchange). This platform is in the heart of the IT landscape for our global dealing rooms and risk managers in Asia, Europe and Americas, with 7-9 scrum teams spread across 4 locations (Amsterdam, Brussels, Bucharest and Singapore), cooperating to evolve it towards target ING Financial Markets IT vision.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

• Monitor, support and run the IPA service consisting of multiple components such as the in-memory Trade Store (Java based, Apache Ignite, Linux technologies, distributed systems architecture) as well as the Calculation/Risk Engine, the Static Data Manager, the workflow Orchestrator and the Post Processing application.
• Take care of incident management, and root cause analysis in case of unavailability and data quality issues. You communicate directly with users (Traders, Credit/Market Risk Managers) on this from Amsterdam, London, Brussels, New York and Singapore.
• Implement and work with the latest tooling with a strong focus on performance, stability and security
• Find opportunities to automate the testing of existing features, performance, and security as well as the automation of deployments, monitoring, and more. This is a key responsibility of the Operations Engineers.
• IT Risk & security controls need to be put in place and accurately documented, for this you will need to get familiar and keep up to date with the ING Information Security Management Policy.
• Continuous deployment and delivery using Azure DevOps
• Collaborate with the other Dev and Ops engineers to define/refine/improve the technical architecture of the application
• Through Agile/Scrum, collaborate with the other Ops engineers to bring live new sprint releases every 2-4 weeks to UAT and Production.

What you’ll bring to the team

• Experience: 5+ years of software engineering / operations experience
• Tech stack/ knowledge:

Mandatory:

• Advanced knowledge on CI/CD, and experience with Azure DevOps, Git, Maven, Python, Ansible, Linux (RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 or 8), Shell scripting
• A customer focus, with the mindset to find and resolve root causes of incidents to structurally improve the customer experience.
• IT Operations/Support experience, including Functional support to end users (such as Traders, Risk Managers, Collateral Managers but could be in another domain/field) combined with analytical skills to identify root causes in workflows incidents (data, technical, functional).
• Familiarity with Grafana, Graphite and tools for alerting like Prometheus
• Good understanding of the ELK Stack and how to interact with it
• Proficient in Oracle 12c/19c with PL/SQL and working experience with JVM based applications
• Familiarity with tools like Confluence, ServiceNow, Checkmarx
• Experience or affinity with IT Risk & Security concepts
• A good team player, cross functional, enjoys interacting with people of all levels in a multicultural environment
• Proactive and attentive to other’s needs

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Datasynapse Gridserver, Apache Ignite (GridGain)
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Dataflow
• Familiarity with Docker and orchestration for it like Kubernetes or Openshift
• Foreign languages: English (advanced)
• Education: Education at Bachelor/Master level with a strong analytical background, in Computer Science, Cybernetics, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering or equivalent
