The ING UK Graduate Programme will provide you with hands-on experience and broad exposure to the banking world over 12 months. You will work as an integral part of a team, helping to deliver impactful solutions for ING in a specific department. We offer opportunities across three streams:

  • Financial Markets – Sales and Trading

  • Front Office – Capital Markets & Advisory and Coverage Banking

  • Support & Control functions – Trading Risk Management, Product Control and Technology

In the Coverage Banking stream, you will:
Work across one of three core product teams, consisting of Lending, Sector Coverage and Transaction Services. Undertaking rotations within this space, you will gain a breadth of product knowledge and the invaluable skills required to meet the needs of clients, contribute to live transactions and work alongside senior colleagues from day 1.

The teams are made up of:
Sector Coverage: Supports clients across the following sectors:

  • Corporate Sector Coverage FTSE 100–250 and PE‑owned companies across Consumer & Retail, Services, and Manufacturing & Industrials.

  • Energy integrated energy companies and developers across conventional and renewable power, utilities and the broader energy value chain.

  • Financial Institutions leading banks, insurers, asset managers, financial sponsors and their associated funds.

  • Infrastructure Finance owners, operators and sponsors of core and essential infrastructure, including airports, ports, toll roads, PPP/social infrastructure and regulated utilities across the UK and Europe.

  • Real Estate Finance private equity investors, UHNW/family offices and corporates focused on income‑producing commercial real estate.

  • Transportation & Logistics the origination of asset-based financing solutions in relation to the acquisition of aircraft, ships/vessels, rolling stock, and container boxes by our clients.

  • TMT & Healthcare telecom operators, digital infrastructure platforms, technology companies and media groups. We also support healthcare companies across the full value chain. The client set consists of PE owned entities and a number of the largest UK corporates as part of a full global proposition.


Transaction Services: Is the power engine of WB, offering a suite of products and services to corporate and institutional clients across our global network. We are a top 3 transaction bank in the Eurozone, with deep expertise and a market-leading BMG proposition. We are at the core of our clients’ value chains and need to deepen relationships, stay relevant and deliver products they need with a seamless, digital product foundation. We do this amid the rapidly changing external environment, in which payments technology and the macro-economic conditions are evolving at pace.

Lending: The UK Lending business provides loan facilities to a broad range of clients across various sectors which include (but not limited to) Acquisition Finance, Funds Finance, Infrastructure, Shipping and Real Estate. Our Lending team is split into two sub-teams: 

  • Transaction Management are responsible for all aspects of new lending activity from structuring the transaction, undertaking due diligence and analysis, preparing credit papers and, post credit approval co-ordinating legal documentation and liaising with other departments to facilitate funding

  • Portfolio Management are responsible for managing our large and diverse portfolio of loans which includes monitoring the performance of individual transactions via detailed analysis and seeking to optimise portfolio returns.  The team is also responsible for ensuring that all regulatory and risk management requirements are met.

Key Skills and Requirements

  • A recent graduate with a minimum 2:1 degree in a business-related subject e.g. Finance, Economics, Banking, Accountancy, etc.

  • Strong numerical, analytical and writing skills

  • Fluent English language skills both written and oral

  • Enthusiastic with positive mindset and eagerness to learn

  • Good relationship, collaboration and communication skills

  • Professional and personal integrity

  • Curious, self-motivated, with high work ethic

  • Strong team player with ability to work independently

  • Prior experience through internships is of added value but not a pre-requisite
