Product Owner - Financial Health

Apply now

At ING, we’re committed to helping customers stay financially resilient, especially when navigating challenging moments. Our Financial Health team plays a critical role in this mission, overseeing hardship and collections activities with significant regulatory oversight to ensure we deliver the right support when it matters most. As part of this team, you’ll directly influence how we design, improve and deliver experiences that genuinely support customers’ financial wellbeing.

We’re on the hunt for a Product Owner – Financial Health to drive the development and execution of key initiatives across our hardship, collections and related customer processes. In this role, you’ll shape the roadmap, prioritise what the squad works on, and ensure every solution balances customer experience with regulatory, risk and business objectives. You’ll work alongside subject‑matter experts, Customer Journey Specialists and senior stakeholders to bring customer‑centric, compliant and scalable solutions to life.

As a core leader within the squad, you’ll take ownership of product decisions, KPIs, and delivery outcomes—using data, customer insights and cross‑functional collaboration to guide continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to influence ING’s approach to Financial Health end‑to‑end, create meaningful customer impact, and help build the foundations of a stronger, more compassionate banking experience.

This is a permanent role based in Sydney.

What you’ll do

  • Define and enhance product and service solutions by analysing customer value, commercial needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and manage lending‑related products  throughout their lifecycle, ensuring they meet business goals and deliver strong customer outcomes.
  • Prioritise, refine and co‑manage the product backlog, contributing to sprint planning and ensuring user stories align with strategic priorities.
  • Identify, design and implement structural improvements across processes, products, services or channels to optimise performance and experience.
  • Oversee product risks, incidents, issues and vendor performance, ensuring compliance with all financial and non‑financial risk standards.
  • Represent the product to internal and external stakeholders, using strong communication and presentation skills to influence and drive alignment.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong product and service management skills, including requirements analysis, action planning and commercial acumen.
  • Understanding of key regulatory frameworks (APRA, ASIC, AUSTRAC) and demonstrated capability to operate effectively within them.
  • A background in financial services or banking, ideally in business‑facing change, reporting, collections and/or hardship environments.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments, including defining ways of working and successfully embedding new systems or processes. Leading initiatives across multiple teams and functions
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to present insights clearly and engage effectively at all levels of the business.
  • Highly analytical and solutions‑focused mindset, with strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to propose innovative approaches to achieve business outcomes.

What’s in it for you?

  • Discounted ING Health Insurance
  • An additional Rest Day to support your wellbeing
  • An IMPACT day to volunteer on approved sustainability activity
