The Analytics Engineering team is a team of 50+ engineers (and growing rapidly) that has the mission to enable this transformation. We do this by combining Big Data technology with Data Science to deliver high-value solutions and products for our organization. What will you do?

Your passion is to work with the latest and greatest technologies in the field of Data Engineering. As an engineer, you will be responsible to design and build the data pipelines for one of many use cases catering WB requirements (transactions monitoring, audit letter, sustainable finance, etc.), collaborate with the data analysts and scientist to create the best user experience and insights for our stakeholders. Your day-to-day activities can look like this:
implementing new features in PySpark and Kedro, testing them in Apache Airflow, deploying it in our in-house platform running on Kubernetes, as well as optimising the data in the permanent data store.

We are looking for you if, you have:

  • Hands-on experience building complex data pipelines,
  • Knowledge of data manipulation and transformation,
  • Experience with Apache Airflow, Spark, Python,
  • Experience in setting up and optimizing both SQL and noSQL data stores, as well as familiarity with object storage services (e.g., S3).
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices,
  • Deployment and provisioning automation tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD).

You'll get extra points for:

  • Experience working in cloud environment (e.g., Azure DevOps, GCP)
  • Familiarity with Kedro framework
  • Familiarity with a JVM based language (Java, Kotlin, Scala),
  • Building REST API in the JVM based language using Spring and Maven,
  • Knowledge of MLOps architecture and practices,
  • Experience managing and further developing distributed systems and clusters for batch processing. Familiarity with data streaming frameworks (Kafka/Flink),
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability (ELK stack),
  • Agile way of working,
  • Comfortable working in the international and cross-functional teams.

Your responsibilities:

  • Develop data processing scripts using PySpark.
  • Develop data pipelines using Kedro framework.
  • Integrate various data sources, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs.
  • Develop and implement data architectures and data models.
  • Troubleshoot data issues, providing robust solutions to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Continuously optimize our systems for performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the design, build, and maintenance of our big data infrastructure.
  • Document technical specifications, procedures, and outcomes.
  • Use Azure DevOps for CI/CD, task tracking, version control, and other DevOps practices.
  • Evidence IT risk related to data assets.
  • Improve data products based on customer feedback.

Information about the team:

You will work as a data engineer in our core Analytics squad – One Client Core (OCC) within the ING Analytics Wholesale Bank Global Tribe. The squad provides curated data on Wholesale banking (WB) clients via various channels that include API, dashboards, and databases. Target audience is everyone in WB who wants to use data to build products, automated services, dashboards, reports, and models. You will be part of the squad consisting of the data analysts, engineers, and product manager.
