The Mission

The Compliance Frameworks & Policies team is part of the Group Compliance domain within ING within the Compliance Frameworks & Control (CF&C) department. The team plays a critical role in shaping and maintaining ING’s global compliance risk management framework, ensuring consistent methodologies, tools, and reporting across all business lines and geographies. And supports the management of the global compliance function and its processes. The team supports the development, implementation and continuous improvement of global compliance frameworks, policies, and methodologies. It ensures that ING’s compliance risk management cycle is effective, more data driven, and aligned with regulatory expectations and internal standards. The function serves all ING entities globally, enabling consistent compliance practices and insights across the bank. The role requires deep expertise in compliance and non-financial risk.


Your day to day

As Compliance Frameworks & Policies Specialist, you are part of global team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining ING’s compliance risk management frameworks, methodologies and reporting. You will oversee compliance data driven reporting, and transformation initiatives. You will support the global Compliance function and functional processes to ensure efficient and effective functional management. You will work closely with stakeholders across the bank and regulators to ensure ING’s compliance practices are robust, data-driven, and future-proof. This role is ideal for a specialist with deep compliance expertise and a passion for driving global change and continuous improvement.

Your key responsibilities:

In this role, you will contribute to the following areas: 

  • Data, tooling and reporting: analyse and aggregate risk data, including RAC outputs, KRIs, issues and controls, and help translate complex data into clear risk insights, dashboards and management reporting;
  • Tooling requirements and data quality: support the translation of business needs into tooling requirements, contribute to iRisk and reporting improvements, and promote a strong data quality and consistency mindset;
  • Frameworks and methodologies: support the design, maintenance and improvement of global Compliance frameworks, methodologies and processes, including risk assessments, horizon scanning, risk appetite, policy governance and risk monitoring;
  • Policy and framework implementation: help translate framework requirements into practical implementation guidance, training materials, awareness activities and support for Compliance teams across countries and entities;
  • Stakeholder management: coordinate with global stakeholders across countries, entities, Compliance Risk Verticals and partner functions such as NFR, Integrated Risk, ODCR and COO Risk to ensure input, alignment and timely delivery;
  • Regulatory alignment and internal control: help ensure that Compliance framework and governance arrangements remain aligned with regulatory expectations, internal control requirements and applicable ING standards;
  • Transformation and simplification: contribute to global Compliance transformation initiatives that strengthen effectiveness, automation, consistency, scalability and forward-looking risk management. 

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • University degree or equivalent professional experience;
  • Relevant specialist experience in Compliance, non-financial risk, risk management, data/reporting, policy governance or a closely related discipline;
  • Good understanding of compliance or risk management frameworks, risk taxonomy, risk management cycles, internal control requirements and regulatory expectations;
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to handle and aggregate large risk datasets, identify trends, spot emerging risks and translate complex data into clear risk insights;
  • Experience with risk reporting, dashboard creation or management reporting, including the ability to develop clear risk narratives from data trends and root-cause information;
  • Good understanding of risk management workflows and tooling; experience with iRisk GRC, Cognos, Power BI or comparable reporting and workflow tools is strongly relevant. 
  • Ability to translate business needs into practical process, reporting or tooling requirements;
  • Strong data quality mindset, including the ability to identify inconsistencies, challenge unclear information and propose practical fixes;
  • Good stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work in a global, matrix organisation across countries, entities and functions;
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned deliverables, work independently, manage multiple concurrent priorities and remain effective in a fast-changing environment;
  • Excellent verbal and written English. 

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of ING GRC tooling, iRisk workflows, Cognos, Power BI, data-driven reporting and/or portfolio analysis dashboards. 
  • Experience analysing RAC outputs, KRIs, issues, controls, root causes or other non-financial risk datasets;
  • Knowledge of ING’s compliance risk management processes, including risk assessments, risk appetite, horizon scanning, policy governance, risk monitoring and compliance reporting;
  • Familiarity with the NFR Framework, ERM Framework, Internal Control Binding Principles, relevant EBA standards and data governance expectations such as BCBS 239 is a plus;
  • Exposure to process transformation, automation, simplification, AI-enabled tooling discussions or continuous improvement initiatives is a plus;
  • Strong organisational understanding and ability to navigate ING’s business structure, governance standards and risk ecosystem. 
  • Curiosity, accountability, collaboration and adaptability, with the ability to challenge constructively, think creatively and improve ways of working. 
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment with changing priorities, ambiguity and varying demands.
