Financial Accountant (14 months fixed term contract)

Join a high-performing Finance team where you'll play a critical role in delivering accurate financial, regulatory and statutory reporting while helping drive automation and reporting transformation initiatives.

Reporting to the Manager, External Reporting, you'll be responsible for supporting the delivery of external reporting obligations, including Head Office, Statutory and Regulatory reporting. You'll ensure reporting is accurate, timely and well-controlled while identifying opportunities to enhance processes, data quality and automation capabilities.

What you'll do

• Prepare and deliver Head Office, statutory and regulatory reporting, including APRA submissions, in line with accounting standards and group requirements.
• Support financial statement preparation, Board reporting and external audit requirements.
• Analyse financial and reporting data to identify insights, reporting issues and opportunities for control enhancement.
• Drive reporting transformation, automation and process improvement initiatives using SQL, Power BI and Power Query.
• Build effective relationships with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Treasury, Technology and external auditors.

What we're looking for

• CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion).
• 3-5 years' experience in banking, financial services or a Big 4 accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, regulatory reporting and accounting principles.
• Advanced Excel skills with experience analysing large and complex data sets.
• Proficiency in SQL, Power Query and Power BI is highly regarded.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
