Manager, CFO Risk and Governance (1LOD Risk Business Partner to CFO)

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Business Control Manager is the key first line risk partner to the CFO function.

This newly created Finance Leadership team role provides strategic direction and subject matter expertise in the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of Finance risks, ensuring the CFO-domain operates within risk appetite and meets regulatory obligations.

The role influences risk management decision-making embedding risk culture through business partnership, awareness, effective governance and controls management

What you'll do

  • Executive level adviser to all Finance Functions (Reporting, Control, Advice, Procurement and Tax) on the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of non-financial risks

  • Monitoring and tracking non-financial risk items (issues, events, audit actions) and ensuring timely actioning aligned to policy and procedure.

  • Facilitating periodic reviews of business and products to ensure maintenance of risk profile and compliance with policy and regulatory obligations.

  • Driving teams in development and monitoring of controls, undertaking controls testing and due diligence as needed to support Enterprise Risk Management.

  • Providing reporting, analysis and insights to support CFO-domain leaders

  • Developing expertise in end-to-end products and processes supporting the CFO-domain business and acting as a subject matter expert on relevant compliance and regulatory obligations.

What we're looking for

  • Sound knowledge of finance business processes, systems and controls

  • Previous experience in a Senior Risk or Compliance role (Financial or Non-Financial) either within 1st or 2nd Line Understanding of regulatory and compliance regimes associated with Financial Services industry, including Operational Risk Management Frameworks, CPS 230 Operational Risk Management, APRA Prudential Standards, Risk in Change governance

  • Strong MS Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI and data visualisation, AI and emerging technology risk awareness.

  • Significant experience partnering with business leaders in a first-line risk, business controls, operational risk, compliance, assurance or governance function within financial services

  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley requirements is highly desirable
