KYC domain is hiring a new Chapter Lead with a focus on Analytics Engineering.

The team

We create advanced analytics applications in the “Know your customer” (KYC) domain. We are tackling fundamental, high impact, problems in the financial services industry. We are passionate about protecting both our customers and our society, delivering products that make ING a safer and more compliant bank. 

As we continue our growth and establish the added value data science and machine learning will bring to this transformation journey, we seek a leader for our data science chapter. This means you must be a hands-on coach. A Chapter lead role splits his/her time 50-50 over engineering and leading a chapter. First and foremost, he/she performs content tasks, contributing to a Tribe’s/Squad’s purpose for 50% of his/her time. Second, he/she is the Agile Manager (hierarchical manager) of an IT Chapter, a group of professionals in the same area of expertise.

For details on the Engineering work, he/she contributes as a squad member. As a role model, he/she should contribute actively to the squad's tasks to ensure the application delivery, quality, and stability.

As an Agile Manager, the Analytics Engineering Chapter Lead focuses on increasing the craftsmanship of his/her employees: facilitating his/her chapter to ensure proper knowledge sharing, standard setting, and issue remediation. He/she also follows individual chapter members to accompany them in their careers and help them grow.

This position will specifically implement and manage the technology chapter for Quantexa platform for Anti-money laundering use cases in our specialized products and services portfolio.

Roles and responsibilities

For the content work tasks of IT Analytics Engineer role (50%):

  • Excellent technical skills including recent hands-on coding experience of at least one of the following Spark, Scala, Java is a must. Quantexa experience is a good to have

  • Strong understanding of SDLC principles, including use of unit testing, git, CI/CD, and how to set up good practices on a new project

  • Experience with technical and solution design, including designing systems to address non-functional requirements (e.g., performance, maintainability, security, and systems integration)

  • Strong experience in hands-on technical deliveries, leading technical teams from design through to implementation of production systems

  • Experience of managing multiple projects, preferably in an Agile environment

  • Extensive experience working with data and addressing common challenges such as data quality, updates, data structure changes and rollback

  • For the Agile Manager tasks of IT Chapter Lead role (50%):

  • Stimulates the ‘new’ culture

  • Acts as an agile role model

  • Coaches individual IT Chapter members on agile-mindset and behavior, on expertise related skills and knowledge sharing

  • Challenges IT Chapter members in their way of working and their continuous improvements

  • Realizes and maintains the IT maturity

  • Strengthens the organization by continuously improving the IT Chapter’s way of working/standards

  • Organizational Development and Employee planning

  • Identifies and stimulates the processing of organizational improvement opportunities

  • Performs the PCB (Planning, Coaching, Appraisal) cycle with all his/her internal IT Chapter members

  • Discusses IT Chapter progress in skills development and future demand with the IT (Area) Lead

  • Allocates IT Chapter members to relevant Squads

  • Ensures qualitative alignment between IT Chapter members and relevant Product Owners’ planned business value (Staffing)

  • Performs long term employability planning

  • Performs all other people management tasks, e.g., recruitment, talent management, et cetera

  • Propagates IT vision and strategy to his/her IT Chapter members to align goals

  • Knowledge sharing

  • Ensures the application of expertise specific standards (DoD)

  • Shares relevant insights and developments in his/her own expertise with his/her and other IT Chapter members

  • Miscellaneous

  • Follows market developments in his/her area of expertise

  • Aligns with other (IT) Chapter Leads

How to succeed

  • You have at least 11+ years of (global) work experience in Data Engineering, Analytics and Machine Learning (methods, technology, data)

  • You have experience in architecting & building analytics solutions from prototype to deployment

  • You have a proven track record of developing people and knowledge through coaching or mentoring

  • You have experience in leading teams to drive results and interact with (senior level) stakeholders

  • You have good oratory and presentation skills

  • You have experience in implementing analytics solutions in Agile ways of working

  • You have vast experience in understanding complex AI/ML problems and ability to devise best optimal ways of implementation.

  • You oversee a chapter of 10-12 engineers which includes recruiting of new talents, administration, personal development, and evaluation of your Chapter members. You inspire and encourage your Chapter members to develop themselves, providing them coaching on both the professional as well as the personal level.

  • Masters’ degree with excellent academic results in the field of Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or similar.

  • Excellent understanding of Data Engineering, Analytics, and machine learning applications & algorithms

  • Experience in building ETLs using one of the following Scala/Java/Spark/SQL is a must

  • Experience with Quantexa is a good to have

  • Experience in setting up both SQL as well as noSQL databases

  • Deployment and provisioning automation tools e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift, CI/CD
