Data Scientist – GenAI Chatbot (Fulltime/Amsterdam)

Are you ready to shape the future of banking? As a GenAI Chatbot Security Research Intern at ING Bank, you’ll dive into the rapidly evolving field of AI security, exploring how to protect next‑generation conversational banking experiences. You will investigate vulnerabilities such as prompt injection, jailbreak techniques, and other emerging threats in GenAI models that power our customer-facing chatbots.

The team
The Data Scientist – GenAI Chatbot will join our Chatbot team that consists of domain experts, Data analysts and Machine Learning engineers. In our joined objective to increase the helpfulness and to set the best customer experience via chat, we are constantly on the move and strive to improve our channels every day.

Roles and responsibilities
As a GenAI Chatbot Security Intern, you will play a key role in understanding, identifying, and mitigating security risks in modern AI-driven banking assistants. This includes:

  • Research emerging security threats to GenAI chatbots, with a focus on prompt injection, jailbreak tactics, model manipulation, and adversarial inputs.
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate how GenAI models behave under different attack vectors.
  • Develop methodologies and testing frameworks to systematically detect and measure model vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineers and security experts to translate research insights into actionable improvements for our chatbot platform.
  • Propose mitigation strategies that protect customers and safeguard conversational banking integrity.
  • Communicate findings clearly, both in technical documentation and in presentations to relevant stakeholders.

  • You are an ambitious student of a related Master or bachelor study; Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or any other related.

  • You are fluent in English.
