Mission

As a Senior DevOps Engineer you need to have a bit of knowledge of a great number of topics like operating systems, databases, networking (e.g., firewalls, load-balancing), web and application servers, service-oriented and microservices architecture, Cloud migration, CI/CD, automation, monitoring, performance, security, disaster recovery, project management, and ITIL processes.

You’ll join an inspiring and curious chapter-team of young technologists dedicated to keep the applications running according to the agreed SLAs, but most important will act as a technical lead to improve the customer experience by investing time to understand business needs, develop high quality software/new features, propose, and implement solutions for improvements in terms of security, monitoring, automation, and bug fixing.

The team operates with voice, IVR & chatbot solutions but also internal CRM in-house build applications. We are in process to migrate to new Cloud technologies aiming at containerized part of environments and decouple services to domain driven design principles.

Finally, be prepared to spend a great time dealing not only with computers and software but also with people with both technical and non-technical background as the DevOps holds a central role within the organization.

Your day to day

Production function:

• Responsible for the incident, problem and root-cause analysis for high available systems (Call Center and Assisted CRM), working together with LMIM to implement structural solutions

• Maintain call and chat bots applications in production, working both with internal systems and Twilio cloud based platform
• Change management, promote and responsible for the release of new features in production
• Run business application and the related IT configuration items: OS, databases, web and application servers, environments, etc.

Observability and monitoring:

• Create and maintain monitoring environment (set-up infrastructure, feed with data, develop alerts, propose improvements)
• Build proactive mechanism to improve resilience of our assets

Automation

• Develop CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps to automate deployments and different configurations infrastructure (Infra-as-Code)

Security and IT Risk

• Guardian of the owned assets and keep up to date vulnerability management, patch management, certificates management, NPA management etc.
• Strictly follow security minimum standards in ING and work in various internal application to write and keep up to date security documentation of our assets
• Coordinate penetration tests and remediate finding according to specific timelines

Cloud

• Actively participate in transforming the design, architecture, and deployment mechanism for the existing applications to have them thrive in the private cloud environment ( Azure based)
• Hands-on migration of own applications from on-prem to private cloud environment
• Participate in breaking monolith application into microservices and running into production – using mainly OpenShift

Collaboration and behaviour

• Work in an Agile (Agile Spotify model at base) and ITIL organization environment
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure the application is functioning as expected (network, OS and other DevOps teams)
• Act as a mentor by helping and supporting new & existing colleagues
• Create and maintain an up-to-date system documentation and procedures of your area of delivery

What you bring to the team

• A desire to learn new technologies and evolve with an ever-changing industry
• Unnegotiable: Experience with version control systems (Git) and with CI/CD delivery tools (we use Azure)
• Experience with both Windows & Unix/Linux Operating Systems (our current tech stack is Microsoft based)
• Advanced knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, DBA)
• Network knowledge (hardware sizing experience, firewalls, load-balancers etc.) and troubleshooting abilities on applications & networking issues
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Kibana etc.)
• Good understanding of security protocols (SSL/TLS), encryption principles, authentication
• Excellent understanding of a Kubernetes based container orchestration system. We prefer OpenShift
• Familiar with microservices/REST APIs and Web/Application Server administration
• Ability to effectively interface with technical and non-technical staff at all organizational levels
• Comfortable in working with ITIL standards Incidents / Problems / Change Requests / Service Requests Fulfilment and ability to discuss it with different stakeholders and act as Local Major Incident manager.
• Excellent technical documentation skills, accurate in documenting and following procedures
• Positive attitude and oriented towards solving problems
• The ability to give constructive feedback and openness to receive it as well
• Excellent command of English

Nice to have

• Familiar with solution like Cisco or Twilio
• Familiar with chatbot maintenance/ Machine Learning/ MLOps
• Familiar with Google Cloud Platform
