As Automation DevOps Engineer you will drive and implement our Automation vision with focus on building platforms and services using “everything as a code” mantra. An automation-first mentality is the first step for a significant transformation for any organization, starting from simple task automation, moving to complex workflow orchestration and finally provide end-user services via “push-button” features.

You will work hand in hand with Platform Services Tribe management team, Product Owners and Architects to develop strategies and to define principles for ING services.

Our team’s portfolio is diverse, containing a significant number of projects with a wide span of technologies and platforms like ELK stack, Zabbix, Ansible or Puppet.

Your day to day

• Get involved in designing, building and maintaining the system;
• Automate all parts of the system, from deploying to self-healing mechanisms;
• Increase our platform adoption of core automation toolset and services;
• Improve our infrastructure, monitoring, tooling and continuous delivery processes;
• Research, identify and drive opportunities to improve automation;
• Troubleshoot and solve any encountered issues across our technology stack focusing on permanent fixes and automation instead of point-fixes;
• Support our platform users and consumers;
• Document systems designs, business requirements, technical interpretation and security guidelines.

Job requirements

Knowledge and experience:

• Proven experience on a similar role for at least 2-5 years;
• Practical experience with Big Data (Elasticsearch - ELK stack);
• Linux OS (bonus points for Windows);
• Practical experience with Configuration Management tools: Puppet, Ansible, Ansible Tower;
• Scripting and/or programming experience with one of the following: Python, Bash, Ruby, PowerShell;
• Experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Grafana, Elastic APM or equivalent tech);
• Networking knowledge & troubleshooting tools (operating system, network, storage);
• Understanding of networking concepts and internet protocols;
• Knowledge of web/application servers;
• Experienced in working in a complex environment following Agile methods;
• 24x7 mindset and are willing to participate in a stand-by shift, knowing that ING operates a 24x7 business for its customers.

Nice to have

• Experience with virtualization, Public or Private Cloud Providers (Azure, VMware);
• Experience with continuous delivery, continuous integration pipelines (Gitlab CI, Azure DevOps);
• Experience with software development IDEs;
• Everything as code and everything as a service mind set;
• Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift).
