ISIM- Team Lead Fund & Portfolio Oversight

ING Solutions Investment Management (‘ISIM’) is looking for a Team Lead Fund & Portfolio Oversight to support the continued growth and strategic development of its activities in Luxembourg and across Europe.

Your Working Environment

Since its launch in 2014, and as a licensed "Super ManCo", ISIM has established itself as a key strategic platform within ING Global Investment Centre, overseeing a broad range of investment funds distributed across multiple jurisdictions.

As the business continues to expand, we are seeking a motivated and talented Team Lead Fund & Portfolio Oversight to steer our Fund & Portfolio Oversight team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, international environment at the crossroads of investment management, fund governance, regulatory oversight and sustainable finance.

Your Role

Reporting hierarchically to the Conducting Officer in charge of Fund & Portfolio Oversight, you provide strategic leadership to the Fund & Portfolio Oversight team and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including other Team Leaders, Investment Managers and Senior Management, ensuring the effectiveness of ISIM's portfolio management oversight framework whilst driving innovation, regulatory excellence and sustainable growth across the fund platform.

Your Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Expertise

• Build, lead and develop a high-performing team of Fund & Portfolio Oversight Managers;
• Adhere to the change strategy of the Global Investment Centre (including ISIM), promote the strategy and the management decisions to the teams (not only your team) and cascade those decisions in tangible actions for your team; motivate people to commit to these to achieve local business goals;
• Performance management : cascade global objectives and translate them to concrete team/individual objectives. Provide regular performance feedback and conduct career planning with staff. Define appropriate actions as needed to promote optimal employee performance and support employee’s development;
• Motivate and support the growth of your team members; identify training needs of the team and individuals and define development plans where needed;
• Recruit, develop and retain talented professionals;
• Ensure compliance in applying global & local policies;
• Manage resource allocations and priorities effectively.

Portfolio Management Oversight

• Accountable for the delivery of high-quality oversight of delegated portfolio management activities (Funds & DPM) in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal governance standards;
• Oversee due diligence reviews and periodic assessments of appointed Investment Managers;
• Drive the continuous enhancement of oversight methodologies, data quality and reporting capabilities;
• Analyze, challenge and interpret Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to identify trends, emerging risks and areas for improvement. Challenge appointed Investment Managers on investment performance, portfolio construction, risk metrics, investment processes and compliance with investment guidelines;
• Prepare and present management information, reports and analysis for Senior Management, Committees and the Board of Directors regarding fund performance, investment activities and regulatory compliance;
• Participate actively in the Product Approval Process (PAP) for new funds, investment strategies and product changes;
• Develop, review and maintain policies, procedures and governance documentation.

ESG – Sustainability

As the Fund & Portfolio Oversight function acts as ISIM's centre of expertise for sustainability matters, you will:

• Lead the oversight of sustainability-related investment processes, ESG monitoring, sustainability disclosures and SFDR compliance across the fund range;
• Coordinate responses to ESG-related regulatory developments and ensure the timely implementation of new sustainability requirements. Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of SFDR-related requirements and sustainability disclosures;
• The Economic Research Expert coordinates the Fixed income global committee with other group fixed income specialists.
• The Economic Research Expert draws up investment proposals for discretionary management in line with customer requirements and the ING Luxembourg management charter
• The Economic Research Expert manages the fixed income universe of the Global Investment Center. 

• Oversee the application, maintenance and monitoring of ESG labels and certifications across the fund range;
• Serve as a point of contact for ESG-related questions from internal and external stakeholders.

Investment Strategy – Fixed Income expertise

As Team Lead Fund & Portfolio Oversight you will also be hierarchically responsible a team of one senior Investment Strategist and an economic research expert in Fixed Income instruments. Those people also functionally report within other group entities.

You will make sure that:

• The Investment Strategist mainly Develops and communicate ING’s investment vision from a macroeconomic and multi-asset perspective, ensuring alignment between global investment strategy and the Luxembourg platform.
• The Investment Strategist translates market developments and investment insights into clear investment views and actionable guidance for internal stakeholders and clients.
• The Investment Strategist acts as the primary local point of contact (SPOC) for investment strategy topics, connecting the Global Investment Center with the Luxembourg business. 

Projects and Change Management

• Lead strategic, regulatory and transformation initiatives and projects impacting the Management Company and its investment funds & DPM solutions of the Global Investment Centre;
• Contribute to operational excellence initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, automation and data management capabilities;
• Coordinate the implementation of new tools, processes and oversight frameworks;
• Actively support business transformation initiatives requiring Fund & Portfolio Oversight expertise.

Given the size and collaborative nature of the organization, you may also provide support and backup to other Management Company activities when required.

Your Profile

Education & Experience

• Solid understanding of investment funds, multi-asset portfolio management and delegated investment management models and in depth technical product knowledge;
• Having Client facing experience over the years;
• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field;
• Proven experience leading specialist teams in a Management Company, AIFM, asset manager or equivalent financial services environment;
• Relevant experience within a Management Company, AIFM, asset manager, portfolio oversight function or similar financial services environment;
• Previous experience as a Portfolio Manager or Investment Analyst would be considered a strong asset.

Technical Knowledge

• In-depth knowledge of the Luxembourg and European regulatory environment applicable to UCITS and AIFs, including CSSF requirements and Circular 18/698. Experience interacting with delegated portfolio managers and conducting due diligence reviews of investment managers is highly desirable;
• Strong understanding of the European Sustainable Finance framework, including SFDR, EU Taxonomy and related disclosure obligations;
• Strong affinity for data analytics, automation and technology-enabled oversight processes, with a demonstrated ability to leverage technology to enhance oversight effectiveness and decision-making;
• Knowledge of Bloomberg and portfolio management and risk management systems such as Aladdin, Temenos AAA or equivalent solutions is considered an advantage.

Languages

• Professional fluency in English is required;
• Knowledge of Dutch and/or any additional European language is considered an asset.
