Senior Test Engineer

Test Engineer in financial markets transaction reporting

ING is looking for a Test Engineer with automation and test management skills. You will work in the regulatory reporting domain of financial markets and will be part of an Agile team. You are a team player and always look for ways on how to improve.

ING needs to comply with different regulations worldwide. One of those regulations is Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). In transaction reporting we are responsible for collecting, enriching and sending ING’s trade details to external Global Trade Repositories to comply to MiFID. All trade details need to be sent complete, accurate and in time. This sounds easy, but there are a lot of aspects that must be validated before go live. And on top of that, MiFID is not the only regulation, also regulations like EMIR will be supported in a later stage.

As a test engineer you will be working on an existing and on a new application that is not yet in live. For the existing application, you will help defining test cases and analyze test results. Partially manually testing and partially improving the testing with automation. For the new application we expect that you will be working on functional and performance test automation (including Azure DevOps pipelines). Also you make that the full test strategy is executed in a proper way.

What you will do

We are not looking for “test automation”-only engineers, as your tasks will be more diverse. Examples of your tasks are:

• Support defining test cases and analyzing test results.
• Automate and execute functional tests with Playwright/Java/Cucumber.
• Setup, execute and report on performance tests.
• You maintain and follow up on the overall test strategy of the new application.
• You setup and use continuous delivery pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Take up test automation.
• You align with Business and Customer Journey Experts on test planning, test cases and test results.
• You align with surrounding applications to validate their changes or execute end-to-end tests to validate new products.
• You contribute to the agile way of working and actively look for how we can improve.

Additionally:

• The engineer should be proactive and enthusiastic about adopting new technologies.
• Spread knowledge and develop a test-oriented mindset among engineers.
• Work with like-minded colleagues.
• Cultivate a long-term mindset and define a new approach to test-oriented thinking.
• Willingness to learn Financial Markets and Regulatory Reporting knowledge.

How to succeed

As you will be working in an Agile international environment, we expect you to have experience with Agile and/or DevOps. Also, it’s mandatory to have good oral and written skills in English. Within ING we look for engineers that behave according the Orange Code. So you are a pro-active team-player, you’re always looking for improvement and you teach, coach and train our colleague to improve as well.

We expect that:

• You have at least 5 years’ experience in testing of back-end systems and you’re total testing experience is at least 8 years. You also have experience with test management.
• You’re experienced with Testing Frameworks like Playwright/Cucumber (Java implementation)at least 3 years.
• Experience with data selection and modification in a Relational Databases (SQL).
• You have an analytical mindset that will help you understand and test the application and the applications in the chain.

It would be nice if:

• You have worked in the financial markets before and know regulations like EMIR or MiFID.
• You have hands-on experience with testing applications based on SpringBoot, Oracle, Kafka, Linux(RHEL) and service running on a Container Platform like Kubernetes, OpenShift.
• You have experience with implementation of CI/CD
• You have experience with data management environments, think about data quality, data flows, data consistency and data lineage.
