We are seeking a motivated intern to join the Risk Culture & Behavioural Risk department (RC&BR) at ING. The Risk Culture & Behavioural Risk (RC&BR) department was set up to put risk culture

on the agenda of the bank globally. The department provides a clear vision, aligned strategy and sound methodological approach to identify, assess and bring change to the way employees of ING act on risks. In doing so, the RC&BR department wants to drive a sound risk culture that reflects the dynamic business and regulatory environment in which ING operates.

The team

The internship is in the Risk Culture &Behavioural Risk Intervention team. To act upon undesired behaviours, identified and assessed by the Assessment team, the intervention team determines and designs interventions that impact all levels of the organisation. The team is also responsible for guiding local ING entities in improving their risk culture, by supporting them in action planning on the back of the Risk Culture Maturity Report, sharing best practices and facilitating knowledge sharing on risk culture. All with the main goal to mitigate behavioural risks that can impair our performance and improve ING’s risk culture.

To support sound risk judgement, which is a key element of our risk culture, ING has developed an Orange Code Decision Making (OCDM) model. The intervention team is responsible for embedding the model across the organisation and for delivering training and supporting materials in this regard.

Roles and responsibilities

As part of this enthusiastic team, you work in a global context. We offer hands-on (420 hours) internships) for master’s students:

  • During a hands-on internship, you will be a fully-fledged member of our team, working on behavioural risk interventions, supporting the OCDM coordination and facilitating workshops around risk culture themes (e.g. speak up, leadership etc). This allows you to learn about all aspects of our team’s activities first-hand.

This internship will give you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while discovering whether a position at ING is something you aspire.

We are looking for a talented and motivated master’s student who:

  • Beliefs that working on risk culture and behavioural risk is key for a bank
  • Has a background in organizational psychology, or other relevant expertise
  • Has affinity with understanding behaviour in organisations
  • Is enthusiastic about designing intervention methods and facilitating workshops
  • Is collaborative and always strives to learn and grow
  • Is fluent in (business) English
