The Team:

The IT Area Lead Data Management will drive the vision for data management for Wholesale Banking Tech. They will develop the roadmap for data capabilities and lead the delivery of their agile teams, provide direction and ensure the quality and pace of the release. The IT Area Lead will have direct and indirect reports and will manage a department of 100+ data & platform engineers in The Netherlands, Romania, and India. This role will report to the IT Lead of Cross Product Services (CPS).

The Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The IT Area Lead Data Management will drive the vision for data management for Wholesale Banking Tech. 

  • They will develop the roadmap for data capabilities and lead the delivery of their agile teams, provide direction and ensure quality and pace of the release. 

  • The IT Area Lead will have direct and indirect reports and will manage a department of 100+ data & platform engineers in The Netherlands, Romania, and India. This role will report to the IT Lead Cross Product Services (CPS).

  • One of the primary responsibilities for the IT Area Lead will be to drive the transformation of the data architecture and associated way of working.

  • To develop the architecture, the IT Area Lead will work closely with Global teams. Their efforts will create a first-class agile working environment, attract and retain the best engineers, and encourage innovative thinking around data, analytics, and AI.

  • This requires someone with expertise in data strategy, architecture, data management, and analytics as well as extensive managerial and transformation leadership experience. 

  • This role should have a background in delivery along with technical know-how and solid people skills.

  • The IT Area Lead will have the opportunity to put their extensive skillset into practice at ING by taking ownership of one of the largest data lakes in ING and leveraging its contents to strengthen the bank’s position as the global digital standard in its industry.

  • You will manage an extensive data estate running on our internal private cloud with experience in Cloudera Data Platform (CDP), Cloudera Data Flow (CDF), IBM DataStage and Oracle. You will also help charter our course to the public cloud using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools and technologies such as BigQuery, Dataplex and Google Cloud Storage.
  • You have a talent for taking it on and making it happen, enthusiasm for helping others to be successful and a knack for always being a step ahead.
  • You strive to bring fresh ideas to life and embrace challenges in a fast-changing and complex environment.
  • You are knowledgeable in main Data Principles, data transformation techniques, functional management (output management), market trends in Data processes, solutions & coding languages.
  • You have experience in developing and implementing IT policies in an Agile organisation.
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills and passion for and the ability to redesign processes that would otherwise pose an impediment to the organisation.
  • You have a strong organisational sensitivity and the ability to understand and take into account the underlying issues, opportunities and dynamics of the cross-border organization.
