Product Area Lead – Workflow Management

Apply now

We are looking for a Product Area Lead (PAL) for the Workflow Management department within the Banking Technology domain in Global Tech.

Workflow Management is a key component of ING’s scalable technology foundation and part of the Global Banking Technology Platform. Our mission is to guide and enable ING and its entities in workflow management, process orchestration, and automation by providing expert guidance, platforms and tooling.

Currently, our main product is the OnePega Platform, which empowers ING business units and development squads to automate workflows and deliver value with speed and scale. The platform offers reusable components that allow teams to assemble solutions rather than build them from scratch. It is already in use across multiple ING entities and has proven its value.

In addition to the OnePega platform we are looking to expand our offering with additional capabilities.

Roles and responsibilities

The Product Area Lead role combines responsibilities of both a Product Manager and a Chapter Lead.

As Product Area Lead, you will work in a dynamic, challenging and international environment where you will be responsible for the product vision and strategy on workflow management, process orchestration and automation. Together with the IT Area Lead and Platform Architect, you will define and execute that strategy.

Banking Technology is a product-led organization that depends on strong products. Amazing products come from high-performing, product-focused teams. As such, one of the primary responsibilities of the Product Area Lead is the staffing and coaching of the product managers. We aim for autonomous and empowered product teams. The product managers are responsible for ensuring that our products have a great user experience, bring the right value, are scalable and are in line with ING’s strategic direction. You cultivate a culture of collaboration, agility, customer focus, and product management excellence.

To be successful you ensure that the product organization:

  • Has deep knowledge of our users and customers, and the data regarding how our customers engage with our products.
  • Has a deep understanding of the various constraints of the business – constraints from technology, marketing, sales, service, finance, legal, and privacy are typical examples.
  • Tracks industry trends and the competitive landscape as they pertain to our products and the ING strategy.

How to succeed
We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

You:

  • Have a proven track record over multiple years as a product manager, responsible for value and viability of solutions.
  • Have people management experience (+5 years) and a proven track record of coaching and developing people.
  • Have an interest and working experience in the workflow management, process orchestration and automation area.
  • Have a solid understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery.
  • Have experience with product management ontechnical platforms.
  • Have experience with low-code, process automation tooling like Pega and/or Camunda.
  • Have a genuine interest in understanding our business and how our customers use our products.
  • Have proven the ability to go deep and quickly learn new domains, as well as solid understanding of all major parts of the business.
  • Are passionate about growing and developing your product managers talent.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Are skilled at working with a wide variety of types of stakeholders up to C-level
  • Can achieve optimum results by empowering teams and giving them responsibility
  • Are comfortable working in an international context, within virtual teams over different locations (preferable working offshore experience) and can interact easily with international stakeholders
  • Value a multi-cultured environment where English is the working language, and you easily get on with people from different cultural backgrounds
