We at ING Retail Banking are looking for a junior medior- backend Engineer to strengthen one of our multidisciplinary teams that delivers complex customer propositions for its customers.

It is our mission to create and maintain a frictionless API layer for ING Mobile and Web Backends. To integrate our platform (mobile and web) with the ING core financial services and to provide secure and high performing APIs.

The team

As Search & Intelligent Assistant team, we are seeking a talented and experienced Global Search Solutions Engineer. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining our global search solutions, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance across multiple countries. Our search solutions utilize cutting-edge technologies such as Elastic Search, Kafka, Generative AI, and Java backend for our APIs. All with the aim to help the millions of ING customers globally to find what they are looking for and to answer their questions, even those they hadn’t thought of yet.

Role & responsibilities

API Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs and components to support the Mobile and Web API landscape.
Integration: Ensure seamless integration of APIs with NGINX, firewalls, external domains, and monitoring and alerting setups.
DevOps Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps engineers to implement and optimize API integrations, ensuring high availability and performance.
Azure DevOps Pipeline: Develop and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines to automate the deployment and management of APIs.
Elastic Search: Work with Elastic Search to consume and index data, ensuring efficient search capabilities.
Kafka Integration: Utilize Kafka to feed data into Elastic Search, ensuring real-time data processing and indexing.
Agile Scrum Process: Participate in Agile Scrum development processes, contributing to iterative development and continuous delivery of high-quality software.
Continuous Delivery: Deliver working software to production every two weeks, maximizing customer satisfaction and impact through regular feedback loops.
OPS Skills: Utilize OPS skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to API functionality, performance, and security.
Monitoring and Alerting: Set up and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the reliability and performance of APIs.

How to succeed

3+ years of professional java experience (design, develop and maintain highly available and resilient applications)
Experience with java 11+, Git and Maven
Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA/JDBC
Knowledge of Azure - CI/CD pipeline is also important as we are migrating to cloud based solution. CI/CD solution is Azure already.
Experience with Unit and Integration testing
Experience with Elastic search
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
