The Mission:

As part of the development towards a “Next Generation Digital Banking Platform”, ING is renewing the Data Management capabilities globally. The Tribe Data Management is building an integrated data management platform for Netherlands organization.

We seek an enthusiastic Chapter Lead with a passion for data and people!

The Chapter Lead’s role is to build, manage and develop a team of Software, Data and Platform engineers working in developing the new generation data management platform, acting as a mentor on the technical side, but also as people manager.

From a software engineering perspective, the Chapter Lead will be one of the drivers of the transition towards the next generation data management platform and solutions.

This position entails a great deal of collaboration and stakeholder management – not only within the Romanian, the Belgian and Dutch organization, but also with people within the ING Group as a whole. You will play a central role to bring all pieces around Data Management and People together and create an outstanding result for ING customers.

Your Day-to-Day:

Engineering 80%

  • Act as a senior software engineer by delivering high quality results in your squad and providing technical guidance in your chapter working with technologies like: Java, Python, Kotlin, Fast API, Apache NiFi, Apache Kafka, Cloudera Cluster, Oracle Exadata, Azure Pipelines, IBM InfoSphere
  • Contribute to the strategy and lifecycle management of the next generation data management platform
  • Assess the efficiency of end-to-end operational processes by identifying and mitigating risks
  • Safeguard usage of Agile - Scrum principles in day-to-day work of the team

People 20%

  • Participate in the recruitment of new talents
  • Provide continuous coaching and mentoring by clarifying job responsibilities, setting performance expectations through the establishment of goals and job competencies, identifying skill gaps, creating development plans and evaluating performance
  • People management of highly talented software, data and platform engineers
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and business colleagues across the organization

We work in a hybrid mode and occasional travelling to Amsterdam will be required.

What you bring to the team:

  • Proven leadership skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to be able to align with various stakeholders on various levels
  • The ability to innovate, engineer and productize software applications
  • Very good knowledge in Java development
  • considered a big plus: good knowledge of Kotlin and functional programming
  • considered a big plus: good knowledge of JavaScript and typescript
  • Good knowledge ofdatabase conceptsanddatabase designs
  • Ability to translate functional and non-functional requirements (eg. Security, High Availability)
  • Understanding ofAgile– Scrum methodology is considered a plusForeign languages: English (advanced)
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field -mandatory
