Your role and work environment

You will be Data Analyst assigned to support Global KYC (Domestic Bank of Netherland), an organization in which all KYC related capabilities are combined into a functionally steered organization. Our goal is to unite ING and realize uniform, best-in-class customer experiences for all customers worldwide. To this end, we are building a leading European banking platform.

Within Know Your Customer (KYC) we see it as our goal to build a secure society by detecting and preventing financial crime; from the fight against money laundering to the fight against terrorist financing throughout the customer's life cycle. These include customer process, periodic and event reviews, name screening and transaction monitoring.

The KYC Tribe delivers policy, standards, process design, tooling and operational implementation. We contribute to our social role as gatekeeper to protect our financial infrastructure from financial crime.

The Data Analyst is the data pivot to provide information and insights for Know Your Customer (KYC) processes through reports and dashboards. As Data Analyst you control all facets to convey the right message from (complex) data to support decision making. You think about the business rules and at the same time think about where you get the necessary data from.

An example of this is the identification of customer groups based on product and social demographic characteristics under KYC. And you do that by unlocking data from multiple sources, merging it and rendering it in tables, visualizations and action-oriented worklists.

You are responsible for both developing and managing dashboards and reports. You're also constantly thinking about the improvement of our KYC data doctor.

Your key responsibilities

As Data Analyst:

  • You collect relevant data, analyse and report. You clean up and process raw data, correlate different types of data and are able to recognize patterns.
  • Building and improving dashboards in Cognos and software in SAS
  • Preparation of reports, conclusions and recommendations
  • Operational management & steering information as input to (senior) management
  • Drive (fact-based) decision making on all levels (strategical, tactical, and operational). This means for instance performing analysis from overall ING-perspective and provide scenarios to decision makers
  • You analyse complex Data issues that go beyond squad and/or tribe boundaries, with a view to designing complete solutions.
  • You interpret data, analyse results and deliver excellently substantiated data analyses using standard techniques and tools, which lead to improved business decisions or better data quality.
  • You work with large amounts of data: facts, figures, and number crunching. You will need to see through the data and analyse it to find conclusions. This by data-mining activities, in-depth data analysis, validating by combining and interpreting data.

We are looking for an energetic and driven expert with passion for data (management) and with strong analytical capabilities who uses state-of-the-art methods and techniques for data analysis. You have integral, domain-exceeding knowledge Data Analysis in one or more areas of the banking business. Someone who enjoys working together in a multidisciplinary team and you put everything-on-everything on a daily basis to successfully realize a joint mission with your squad members

You are an excellent communicator and able to build bridges between different stakeholders. You are able to convincingly put forward your proposals and are a real team player in reaching broad agreement on the road to follow. In this way, you can contribute to delivering standardised, uniform and fully adapted solutions to complex business issues and processes.

Skillset:

  • You have a college degree in e.g. Mathematics, Computer/Data Science, Information Management or Statistics
  • You have 2-5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Knowledge of data warehouse concepts and data modeling techniques, SQL, SAS Enterprise Guide, Cognos Analytics, or similar reporting tools, such as Power BI or Business Objects
  • Attention to Detail: Data is precise. You make sure you are vigilant in your analysis to come to correct conclusions
  • You are a strong communicator and are able to present your analyses in a clear manner
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • You have knowledge of and experience in Data Analysis in the financial services industry
  • You actively keep up your professional knowledge and translate external trends into applicable knowledge
  • You take responsibility to get the work done
  • You actively ask for help and feedback and are not afraid to give feedback
  • You easily adapt to a new environment
