Operations Engineer

Your work environment: Financial Markets and Global Treasury (FMGT Tribe) is responsible for the IT environment that enables the most crucial commercial activities of ING: Trading, Risk Management, and Liquidity Management. Thousands of trades are being processed in real time by our systems/interfaces every hour. Flawless processing is key as trades covering billions of euros are passing through our systems each day. We use top notch in-house engineered solutions and market-leading vendor applications. These systems and applications need to be running virtually 24/5. If they aren’t, Financial Markets will shut down. Our BIS Squads (2) are spread across the Netherlands, Singapore and India, serving FM interfaces/users in over 30 countries worldwide. Our Squads are often virtual, and the engineers are working from different locations/countries. Therefore, our main language is English. Working in DevOps Scrum teams we are end-to-end responsible for our software: functional feature analysis, design, development, implementation and support of the production environment (we build it, we own it!). We aim to go to fully self-managing and self-optimizing systems.

Job description: Within one of the FM> Areas, Business Integration Services Chapter, we are looking for enthusiastic Ops engineers. Team-players that are passionate, proud, focused on quality and continuous improvement. Solution-focused and broadly developed: able to design, develop, test, deliver and maintain high-quality software solutions. The experienced Ops Engineer actively monitors, manages, tests, deploys and operates the FM> FO/BO applications interfaces noting the detailed technical behaviour and performance across all aspects of the application to proactively identify and prevent operational problems. He/she continuously improves the automation of deployment with TFS and Ansible and operations tools and activities

Desired skills & experience

As an OPS Engineer you will need to:

• Have strong problem-solving skills to structure and improve complex situations.
• Be experienced with monitoring tools like Grafana and ELK but also able to write scripts (bash/shell).
• Have knowledge of Continuous Integration and Delivery tools like: Azure DevOps, GIT and Ansible.
• Affinity with data / reporting / Business Intelligence for reporting purposes.
• Have experience with Linux, Oracle and Middleware like Tibco, TomCat / Websphere.
• Be experienced in Agile and Continuous Delivery practices.
• Have experience with Cloud platforms and architecture like Microsoft Azure.
• Be a strong team player and have good social and communication skills
• Be pro-active and assertive.
• Have a learning attitude. Not only to master new technologies but also on the interpersonal level. You are proven to be able to ask and give feedback.
• Be able to work under pressure and willing to be on stand-by outside office hours.
• Have experience with working in multicultural /diverse teams.
• Have an excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.
• Strong analytical skills, proactive/ownership mindset/attitude and always sharing knowledge.
