ING in Asia Pacific

In Asia Pacific, ING offers wholesale banking across 13 markets, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Singapore is the regional headquarters for ING's Wholesale Banking (WB) business in Asia and includes all WB business lines such as Financial Markets, Sectors, Lending, Capital Markets & Advisory and Transaction Services and other support functions.

What does the Sustainable Finance Team do in ING?

Sustainability is deeply embedded in ING as is evidenced through our globally leading positions in the Sustainable Finance market and our Terra strategy to align our complete loan portfolio with the Paris Climate Agreement.  The Sustainable Finance team is mandated to help clients with their funding needs for their net zero transition. Part of a leading global Sustainable Finance team, the Asia Pacific team is based in Singapore and provides sustainable financing solutions (such as green/social bonds and loans, sustainability linked loans, etc.), coupled with in-depth sector expertise to our clients in the Asia Pacific region.

What would you be doing?

  • Assist in originating, structuring, and executing Sustainable Finance transactions:

    • Prepare pitchbooks and other relevant materials for conferences, workshops, webinars, etc

    • Structure green/social/sustainable financing frameworks, sustainability linked financing products, etc.

    • Perform analysis on eligibility of green/social assets, ESG ratings of companies

  • Research and analyse corporate sustainability disclosure and sector specific developments

  • Assist in reviewing and gathering intelligence on sustainable finance markets (loan and bond) and updating regulatory developments

  • Assist in data extraction, management, and manipulation from ESG databases and reports

  • Any other sustainable finance related tasks that may arise

What qualities and skills are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate individual who meets the following criteria: 

  • Post or undergraduate in any discipline, specializing in environmental sustainability, economics, finance, data science, social science, and/or technology related subjects

  • Keen interest in leveraging the financial markets to create positive enviromental and social impact

  • Candidates with prior internship or research experience in sustainability, ESG, data science, capital markets, and/or corporate banking are preferred

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, and Word

  • Experience in data management and related programming tools will be a plus

  • A good team player who is analytical, detail-oriented, organized and systematic

  • Excellent communication skills with a can-do attitude

  • Fluent in spoken and written English; knowledge in other Asian languages, in particular Mandarin
