Chapter Lead (Team Manager) - Model Validation Credit Risk

We are looking for you, if you :

  • Have an academic degree (MSc or PhD) in Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics or another quantitative/numerical field,
  • Are enthusiastic about working with people and developing talents of others make you fulfilled,
  • Have proven experience in managing and/or mentoring in (risk) modelling,
  • Have extensive knowledge in modelling/validation in A-IRB, IFRS9 and/or Credit Decision Models,
  • Want to be a sparring partner/advisor to Senior Management,
  • Speak English on a very good level (C1 or above),
  • Are prepared to travel occasionally. Mainly to Amsterdam,
  • Are excellent team player, service oriented, people centric, eager to learn,
  • Would like to work in an international environment focused on creativity and modernity.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a chapter of about 10-12 model validators 
  • Set standards for developing, innovating and safeguarding craftsmanship/ knowledge in the field of expertise. Assure backlog delivery quality
  • Perform the annual Step Up Performance Management cycle with your chapter members (e.g. target setting, mid-year review, year-end evaluations) 
  • Manage HR activities: recruitment, illness, leave etc.
  • Perform regular meeting with your chapter members and inspire them to improve & grow and support career development 
  • Recruiting and onboarding new talents 
  • Ensure continuous improvement by providing on-the-job coaching and driving the feedback culture in teams. 
  • Ensure a balance between squad (deliverables) -vs- people development. 

Info about the team

Our Tribe is part of the Model Risk Management (MoRM) department which currently consists of several validation teams (Credit Risk; Trading Book; Banking Book; and Data Science) and a Model Risk Oversight team. MoRM has adopted the ING One Way of Working. In our organisation set-up we distinguish Chapters and squads. CRMV has 7 chapters with each their own business units in scope as their main focus. Our main stakeholders are ING’s head office and local risk departments, senior management (including the CRO and Executive Board), internal and external auditors, the ECB and other regulators. To ensure its autonomy, Model Risk Management reports directly to the CRO.
