Ops Engineer - Payments Reporting

We are looking for an engineer who is passionate about technology, solution - focused and able to contribute to design, development, test automation and hardening (security, stability, deployment) of our reporting platform.

Your role and work environment

You will work within the Reporting area of the Wholesale Banking Payments Tribe. Our purpose is creating fast, seamless and customer centric reporting solutions for our wholesale banking customers. Therefore, our systems are responsible for collecting transactions from different account management systems, creating reports based on our client needs and delivering those reports to the client using a variety of channels.

You will work in the dynamic and challenging environment. We operate according to a Scrum development process with two-week sprints and strongly believe in the DevOps approach to delivering IT solutions. We strive to have high-quality mission-critical software delivered in time using iterative development. We have regular milestone reviews with stakeholders following the ING’s agile way of working.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Operations Engineer who is:

• A team player that is passionate, focused on quality and continuous improvement and proud of what delivers
• You are able to design, develop, test, deliver, and maintain high-quality software solutions.
• Be able to challenge the status quo and offer improvements that lead to higher quality/ease of use/maintainability/etc.
• Be able to coach other team members

Desired skills & experience

• Knowledge and understanding of software development and deployment process
• Linux hands-on experience (knowledge of basic Linux commands, shell scripting, opening up log files, checking file permissions...)
• Knowledge and experince in JBoss/Wildfly
• Windows Administration and MS SQL knowledge
• Networking/Infra knowledge (cloud, firewalls, FTP, XFB, MQ, EMS..)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines preferably Azure and Ansible
• Experience with writing and analysing SQL queries

• Willing to handle/ Has an appetite in doing Risk-related tasks
• Experience with training and coaching junior engineers
• Analytical and investigative by nature
• Waste buster > automation mindset, not only related to testing but to everything
• Always out to learn new skills and to teach others in the process
• Proactive attitude > don't wait for someone to tell you what to do
• Not shy to express and defend his/her opinion in front of a crowd (which may not be the popular opinion)

• Experience with Agile and Scrum way of working=
• Experience with working in an international environment

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker/containers/k8s
• Tuning SQL queries, identifying issues, and implementing improvements in Oracle
• Experience working with Java (or other alternatives for example Python)

• Knowledge of Payments and Account Reporting
