Non Financial Risk Specialist

ING Italy is looking for a Specialist to join the Non-Financial Risk Operational Risk Management (ORM) team. The ideal candidate brings relevant experience from banking operations, risk management, fraud prevention, compliance, or other related areas, and combines strong analytical and stakeholder management skills with a genuine interest in non-financial risk management and fraud-related topics.

Previous experience in a control function is considered a plus.

The role will support the development, oversight and continuous improvement of the risk management, working closely with business, operations and risk stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute to risk assessments, control design and effectiveness reviews, monitoring activities, incident analysis, and regulatory initiatives related to fraud risk prevention.

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative professional who is able to challenge constructively, translate complex risks into practical actions, and drive continuous improvements in a dynamic environment.

Activities:

The team activities are quite varied – here are some of the main ones:

• Support the oversight and continuous enhancement of the Bank's Risk Management Framework.

• Monitor internal and external fraud trends, emerging threats, and regulatory developments, translating insights into actionable recommendations.

• Analyze incidents, root causes, and control weaknesses, supporting remediation plans and lessons learned activities.

• Support the Operational Risk Management framework through RCSA oversight, issue management, risk appetite monitoring, control effectiveness assessments and operational risk event analysis.

• Support the definition and monitoring of fraud risk indicators (KRIs), control performance metrics, and related reporting.

• Review new initiatives, products, and change requests to assess potential risks and adequacy of mitigating measures.

• Promote fraud awareness and a strong risk culture throughout the organization.

• Contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of frameworks, procedures and documentation related to Business Oversight.

Required skills:

• You have an academic degree (MSc or PhD).

• You demonstrated interest in fraud risk management, fraud prevention, and emerging fraud trends.

• You have relevant subject matter expertise and work experience (4+ years) in fraud and/or resilience or security topics. Experience in Non-Financial Risk or other control functions is a plus.

• You have a strong understanding of risk and control frameworks, governance processes, and risk assessment methodologies.

• You have excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.

• You have the ability to work independently, provide effective challenge, and support cross-functional initiatives.

• You have a strong interest in business processes, governance and non‑financial risk management, ideally within banking or financial services.

• You are comfortable working with documentation, processes, controls and qualitative analyses; advanced data skills (e.g. Excel) are a plus.

• You can communicate clearly and effectively with different stakeholders and are comfortable working in a collaborative environment.

• You are a team player who will add value within a dynamic environment and keep interactions friendly and respectful.

• You are proactive, willing to learn and able to manage multiple activities in parallel.

• Good command of English, both written and spoken.

Contract offer:

Working conditions: Permanent employment contract

Working hours: Full time (37 hours per week)

Applicable Collective Labour Agreement: National Collective Labour Agreement for employees in the credit sector (NCLA)

Location: Milan

Annual base salary starting from: 48.000€

Variable remuneration: in line with the applicable remuneration policies (with a target based on the role, outcomes linked to the Group, Business line/function, and individual performance)
