About the position:

We are seeking an Associate to join the ODCR Americas team, focusing on Products and Processes Control Frameworks. In this role, you will work closely with process and control owners to advise and ensure proper implementation of controls that mitigate identified risks for reporting to senior management. The position also includes performing a limited amount of SOX controls testing.

As part of the COO domain, you will support management and all business lines of ING Americas, collaborating with our second line of defense Non-Financial Risk department to identify, assess, mitigate, and report related risks. This includes monitoring non-financial risks regularly to ensure compliance with ING Group policies, guidelines, and applicable local laws and regulations.

This role sits within the Products and Processes Experts Team and focuses on the effective and efficient implementation of NFR frameworks across all products and processes. Close collaboration with local 1LoD and 2LoD functions, Head Office ODCR, and ING Hubs will be key to success.

About the department:

The Operational Design, Control and Resilience (ODCR) Americas team consists of professionals and experts in financial services and risk management. We partner with business and support functions to ensure optimal control and resilience design, execution, and monitoring of non-financial risks, while fostering a strong risk culture across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring that ING Americas’ risk profile remains within its risk appetite by identifying risks, implementing mitigating measures, maintaining process flows, and executing key control activities.
  • Support the Director ODCR, Products & Processes, and collaborate with Business Management, LoB functions, and 2LoD to ensure timely implementation of policies, control standards, and mandatory instructions.
  • Facilitate gap analyses and risk assessments; monitor remediation of gaps related to global policies, control standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Document risks and controls accurately, including implementation and execution of key controls and monitoring techniques (e.g., key control testing).
  • Assist with the use of the GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) tool/application.
  • Prepare presentations, communications, and ad hoc analyses on non-financial risk topics.
  • Stay informed on regulatory and industry developments in non-financial risk management.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related fields
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Basic understanding of financial products, processes, systems, and associated risks (e.g., Financial Reporting, Transaction Services, Corporate Lending).
  • Knowledge of risk management principles, control frameworks, methodologies, and tools within financial services.
  • Strong judgment, high work ethic, and professional approach with excellent communication and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, work under pressure, and maintain a proactive, positive attitude toward problem-solving.
  • Skilled in building relationships with stakeholders across 1LoD, 2LoD, and management; comfortable presenting ideas in group settings.
  • Familiarity with iRisk (IBM Open Pages) GRC application preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to learn quickly and work independently or collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail and focus on timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development in non-financial risk management.

Salary Range $90,000-115,000
