Manager, Model Risk Oversight

Presenta la candidatura

Join our team and be part of shaping the future of banking at ING Australia.

As Manager, Model Risk Oversight, you’ll play a vital role in developing expertise in banking risk management and governance. Your responsibilities will involve reviewing and challenging risks associated with models, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring that models drive positive business outcomes.

This exciting opportunity allows you to contribute to our 2032 LEAP strategy, focusing on Line 2 oversight and working closely with model developers and users. While a quantitative risk modeller background is not mandatory, you’ll possess the ability to extract key insights from complex documents and effectively communicate with business stakeholders.

Our ideal candidate has a risk mindset, with a passion for numbers, and experience in banking or consultancy. If you’re a fast learner who thrives in a fast-paced dynamic environment, this role offers a unique chance to make a difference while advancing your career in the banking industry.

Join us in empowering customers to stay ahead in both life and business.

What you’ll do

  • Point of Contact: You'll act as the main contact for model risk, driving the implementation of the Model Risk Management Framework and supporting policies, procedures, and guidance, including the adoption of the AI framework.
  • Compliance and Understanding: You'll guide compliance with model risk management policies and the model lifecycle across ING Australia, including action planning to mitigate risks.
  • Reporting: Presenting reports to Management Committees and the Board on model risk management matters holistically across the business.
  • Risk Reviews: Performing deep dives and thematic risk reviews, especially concerning emerging model risks such as AI and model ethics.
  • Review and Challenge: Supporting the review and challenge of model risks identified by Line 1 colleagues and proposed risk management activities.
  • Regulatory Expectations: Ensuring evolving regulatory expectations are met and supporting relevant regulatory interactions, including communications and onsite reviews.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: Supporting coordination and collaboration between ING Australia and ING Group.
  • Sub-Committee Duties: Handling secretarial duties for the Model Risk Management Sub-Committee and driving its efficacy.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with all stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

  • Data Literacy: Excellent data or model literacy skills, with an ability to understand both quantitative and qualitative materials.
  • Technical Document Distillation: Ability to comprehend and simplify key messages from complex modelling and validation documentation.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues before they arise and offer pragmatic solutions
  • Industry Awareness: Awareness of current industry threats, trends, opportunities and issues affecting the bank's business.
  • Modelling Experience: Some experience in, or exposure to, modelling and quantitative areas, particularly in data, analytics, or risk.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Experience liaising with business stakeholders and modellers to review and challenge model development and implementation using ING's model risk taxonomy.
  • Banking Landscape: Holistic overview of the banking landscape, including legal and regulatory environments.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Educational Background: Degree qualified in science, business, commerce, or a related discipline.
