About the department:

Corporate Audit Services (CAS) is a corporate staff function of the ING Group which reports administratively to the Executive Board and functionally to the Audit Committee. CAS activities are carried out by ~410 staff members worldwide, with direction and global strategy provided by the CAS Management Team. The authority and mandate of CAS are established by ING’s Audit Charter. The Head of CAS for Wholesale Banking Americas (ADH Americas) reports to the Global Audit Domain Head for Wholesale Bank (“WB GADH”) who in turn reports to Global Head of CAS.   The ADH Americas is a member of the CAS WB  Management Team (“CS WB MT”) and acts as the hierarchical line manager for a team of ~10 professionals based in New York City.

Responsibilities :

As an Audit Division Head for ING Wholesale Banking Americas  you will

• Provide an independent and objective audit service to the Head of Wholesale Bank Americas.  The role is not just compliance-oriented but geared towards giving true advice to ING senior business leaders.
  • Audit Approach: You determine the audit approach to cover the Americas region. This includes preparing the annual (global) audit plan and priorities, considering internal and external developments as well as keeping the region aligned with the organizational developments and global CAS approaches.
  • Audit Execution & Reporting: You ensure the audit plan is executed with audits meeting high standards and audit findings are reported to the various stakeholders, including actions for improvement. You effectively provide assurance on the Risk & Control environment of the region.
• Serve as the Global Subject Matter Expert on selected topics in line with your expertise, maintaining standard audit guidance up to date, advising on audits conducted in your area of expertise across ING, and sharing relevant information around the global CAS organization as well as Wholesale Bank.
• Build and manage a team of experienced - auditors across multiple locations, who - as a collective - possess all the skills necessary to deliver high impact audits adding value to ING. You create a safe work environment and a sense of belonging for staff members and other CAS colleagues.
• Engage with and influence a wide range of stakeholders also including regulators and external auditors. 
• Build partnerships and collaborate across businesses and functions to improve the identification, quantification measurement, management, reporting and controls in governance, risk management and internal control environments. Take initiative to build and promote a culture of collaboration and of open, fearless communication across the organization. Foster a sense of accountability across the organization and personally take a strong role in ensuring commitments are met.
• Contribute to development of CAS organization and CAS strategy
• Stay abreast of industry developments, stay up-to date on strategic and regulatory developments for ING Americas and the wider ING organization
• Collaborate and challenge the status quo across all three lines of defense

Qualifications and Competencies

• + 15 years of work experience in audit and/or risk management, preferably in a wholesale bank
• Proficient understanding of wholesale banking and of internal audit processes, including identifying and evaluating key risks, setting the audit scope, developing audit testing, and managing audit assignments. A strong understanding of the regulatory environment is key
• Risk-based, strategic mindset; ability to translate wholesale bank strategy and risks into focused audit priorities to drive the highest impact
• Strong analytical skills to drive impact and efficiency
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build strong networks in a matrix environment
• Experienced people leader with a track record of building high performing teams
• Agile and ability to adapt in change and high growth environments (“Grow the difference” strategy)

Salary Range $275,000 - $350,000
