The Team

This  position will lead the  Enterprise Architecture (EA) office, providing team members the opportunity to share, mature, and continuously optimize the EA practice. You will lead a team of experts, set standards, and ensure the development and safeguarding of knowledge. You'll orchestrate practice optimizations, facilitating the bank's smooth evolution and strategic ambitions, while fostering collaboration across engineering, portfolio, and other areas. You will be reporting into the Head of Tech Strategy.

We are seeking an open-minded, forward-looking leader with a proven track record in driving and coordinating architectural transformations. This role requires an inspirational thought leader who can foster a collaborative, high-performance culture, lead by example, and effectively steer teams towards achieving strategic goals.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team of architects/experts, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, support, and communicate processes, guidelines, and best practices for architecture, ensuring a consistent, high-quality methodology for bank-wide services.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations on architectural best practices and emerging trends.
  • Drive the development and implementation of the architectural vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Champion the adoption of new technologies and methodologies, promoting a forward-thinking approach to architecture.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration, ensuring effective communication and coordination between teams and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and coach the team, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their professional goals and enhance their skills.
  • Ensure delivery outcomes are met by tracking progress, managing dependencies, and addressing any issues that arise.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills to drive new strategies, carry out training, and manage change initiatives.
  • Strong governance knowledge and experience in agile methodologies. Expertise in developing and governing an architecture repository using knowledge management, meta-modelling, and data-driven techniques.
  • Strong portfolio and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Familiarity with industry frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, IPQC, TM Forum, COBIT, IT4IT) and the ability to adapt them to ING's architectural frameworks.
  • Proficiency in developing maturity models and assessments to enhance the EA practice, with a preference for business and process architecture.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Business Administration)
  • Advanced degree (Master’s) preferred
