The Finance Accounting Services team is a team of Financial experts with specialized knowledge in the field of accounting for the different banking products and expense categories within ING’s Retail NL organization, the largest Business Line of ING Group. The Finance Accounting Services team is part of the Financial Accounting department of Domestic Bank Netherlands (DBNL). Within our team we are responsible to make sure that the financial impact of the processes within DBNL are correctly, timely and completely processed in the general ledger, and that this happens in a controlled manner.

We are looking for an enthusiastic intern to assist us with enhancing and accelerating the accounting cycle.

About the work environment
Finance Domestic Bank is responsible for the financial accounting and Statutory/Regulatory reporting of all Retail activities in ING’s home market, totaling to a Balance Sheet of 130 billion euro. The Financial Accounting tribe aims at finding the balance between high speed to continuously deliver on all regulatory changes and an efficient and up-to-standard way of working to process vast data sets according to strict IFRS, Tax and ECB rules.

The basis for all reporting is the general ledger.  

Your role
Within finance we work with data, so data protection is an important topic and Personal Data Protection is one of the key Compliance factors for ING. During this assignment, you will work closely together with our Finance Accounting Services experts. Your assignment is to make an inventory (per (sub)product of all files and source output used in the finance processes and indicate if personal data is included. Through this assignment, you will get insight in amongst others various procesflows of finance, technologies used such as accounting rules engine, data visualization and Robotics Process Automation (RPA).

You will be working in a dynamic and agile environment. This internship will bring you the following:

• Insights into Finance Accounting Services within a large financial institution
• Insights into business processes and new technologies such as RPA
• Insights in what kind of data within finance is needed to make the correct journal entries and perform adequate saldo analyses.
• Insights into the different statutory & regulatory reports such as BCBS 239, FinRep, AnaCredit, Country Risk reporting, Deposit Guarantee Scheme, Liquidity reporting and many other forms of reporting such as ESG related reports.
• A lot of development opportunities, like knowledge sharing with other experts, presenting your results, suggesting / implementing improvements by challenging the status quo.
  

Profile

We are searching for a communicatively strong personality with the following background:

• You are a Master student in Accountancy / Finance & Control
