Mission

Network Engineer role is part of the ING’s Tech Platform Services tribe, with responsibilities on managing large scale (national and international) network products and services, supporting ING Bank applications’ data transfers by implementing and operating highly secure and resilient voice solutions.

The role is responsible on translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables ensuring scalability, reliability, compliance, and security considering full range of products & services from Core Infrastructure, Platforms and Workplace Experience thus supporting organization Cloud journey and Digital by default processes.

Your day to day

  • Participate at workshops, and be able to understand, identify, assess the key points in a discussion with the parties involved;

  • Clear understanding of consumer context and needs, as well as the value-add of your service to the consumer;

  • Working-level knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices;

  • Understanding of the Scrum methodology (e.g., backlog and spring planning, review and marketplace);

  • Knowledge of DevOps way of working (e.g., continuous delivery, cross-functional team set-ups, development of cross-skilled squad members);

  • Manage (monitor, evaluate, continuously improve) Incidents, Problems, Changes and Configuration Management processes;

  • Creating and improve documentation and work instructions on the delivered infrastructure solution;

  • Broad knowledge of LAN, WAN and DC environments;

  • Quickly diagnosing and fixing hardware and network failures;

  • Coordinating with ISPs, datacentre teams, and security teams;

  • Knowledge of routing and switching protocols in a highly available environment; In-depth knowledge about MPLS, EVPN VXLAN technologies, including routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP technologies as well as complex switching concepts;

  • Knowledge and experience with Firewall products; Configuration skills on firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet), Security Rules, NAT, VPNs (IPSec, SSL), LDAP Integration, Logging profiles, secure gateway solutions (Global Protect);

  • Proves ability to configure, verify, and optimize next-gen IP network datacentre infrastructures;

  • Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches and Layer 3 networking;

  • Infrastructure monitoring and alerting (platforms such as Zabbix, Grafana);

  • Hands on experience with tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, Elasticsearch (ELK), advanced log analysis;

  • Understand and apply the ING approach for managing the IT Risk Framework for IT processes and digital products whether it is within an ING entity, delivered by Intragroup or 3rd party providers;

  • Lifecycle Management (LCM) process that ensures the information assets are fit for purpose during their entire lifecycle by keeping the (business) applications underlying infrastructure services in support by our vendors, supportable by the IT Custodians and compliant with internal and external regulators;

  • Experience and preferable one or more certifications on:

    • Experience in cloud deployment and infrastructure services;

    • Cisco Networks - Routing and Switching/Datacentre certifications;

    • Palo Alto Networks firewalls (PCNSA);

    • You know your way around with automation platforms as Ansible, Azure Automation, Google Cloud Deployment Manager, AWS Cloud formation etc.

  • Experience scripting in one or more of the following languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell, JavaScript; Deploying applications to development environments using Azure Pipelines; Using tasks in Azure Pipelines (e.g., build, test, publish); Integrating with Git repositories (GitHub, Azure Repos);

  • The technology of interfacing squads and consumers to achieve an end-to-end view;

  • Impact of different factors on the performance and capacity of services different elements on the performance and capacity of services;

  • Knowledge of WLAN technologies, 802.11 standards, access points and controllers; Ability to configure, verify and optimize WLAN solutions;

  • Strong analytical skills;

  • Insight and implementation of complex structural infrastructure solution;

  • Good to have: Experience in managing configurations on Cisco Voice Gateway equipment and voice related technologies: Cisco Call Manager, Cisco UCCX, Cisco Zoom, Nuance.

What you bring to the team

  • University degree in Information Technology;

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar position working with a large infrastructure;

  • Professional experience with the following fields: IT Datacenter environment, Networking, DevOPS;

  • Experience with (some of) the following technologies: LAN/WAN/SD-WAN routing, switching and ability to troubleshoot a networking behaviour in a DC environment, Next-Generation Firewalls (Palo Alto, Checkpoint);

  • Knowledge of scripting / automation (Python, Bash, LUA, PowerShell, etc …) and orchestration platforms (Ansible, Azure Pipeline Automation, Terraform, etc …) is a must;

  • Good understanding of Windows / Linux operating systems with CLI;

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP DC / SP JNCIA/JCNIP, CompTIA Network, Linux+, PCNSA, are a plus;

  • Familiar with the agile way of working;

  • Foreign language requirements: English B2 or higher.
