Financial Accounting Controller

Apply now

We’re committed to empowering people to stay a step ahead in life and business. Our Finance Control team plays a vital role in this mission by ensuring we are always in control of our financials, while adapting to evolving regulatory and statutory requirements.

As part of the Finance Domestic Bank, you’ll be working in a high-impact environment responsible for the financial accounting and reporting of ING’s Retail activities in the Netherlands. With a balance sheet of over €200 billion and contributing to 40% of ING’s global profit, this is a place where your work truly matters.

You’ll join the Financial Reporting tribe, where we balance speed and precision—delivering on regulatory changes while maintaining robust, efficient processes that meet strict regulatory standards. You’ll be part of a diverse and collaborative Finance team of around 20 professionals. We value inclusion, open communication, and a shared commitment to excellence. Whether you’re an experienced controller or looking to grow into the role, you’ll find support and challenge in equal measure.

About your new role role

We are looking for a Financial Controller who will:

  • Be in control of your reports—both from an internal control and regulatory perspective
  • Support the continuous improvement of regulatory reporting processes
  • Act as a trusted advisor on financial compliance and reporting matters
  • Prepare, coordinate, and reconcile regulatory and statutory reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial controls, reporting anomalies and supporting process improvements.
  • Translate financial regulations into actionable procedures and data requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and guidelines.
  • Provide insights through data analysis and support decision-making with clear, accurate reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks and external regulations.
  • Collaborate across teams to maintain high-quality reporting standards and continuous improvement.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Current residency in the Netherlands
  • A Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • 3-4 years of experience in financial control, accounting, or regulatory reporting in a banking environment
  • Strong understanding of regulatory reporting frameworks.
  • Experience with data tools (SQL, SAS etc.) and financial systems (GFRS etc.)
  • Good relationship skills with stakeholders from different levels and areas within the bank
