We are looking for an intern to join our global people analytics team, specifically the Employee Insights squad. We are leveraging behavioural science and data to understand what drives and engages our employees. Our purpose is to enable evidence-based decision making across all levels of the organisation. As an intern you would be pulled into various projects in the team - from product development, to analysis, research and business partnering. You would get great insight into how mature people analytics teams operate and how we create value for the organisation and its employees.

The team

In order to deliver the People Vision, our Human Resources team consists of three focus areas: People Services, Centers of Expertise and HR Business Partners.

Within the Global Human Resources organisation, the role of intern supports the People Analytics Team (Center of Expertise), to deliver easy, personal & efficient insights to all ING colleagues & stakeholders. Your goal is to make the entire team more successful in delivery of people priorities and projects, across the function.

Job overview

We are excited to offer you an internship in the People Analytics department at ING. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of people analytics and to learn the principles and practices of this rapidly growing and important field.

As an intern in the People Analytics department, you will be responsible for supporting the department in a variety of ways. You will work closely with the team to develop and run our analytical products and analyse data to help inform decisions in the areas of recruitment, retention, and employee engagement (among other). You will also have the opportunity to develop reports and dashboards that can be used to track key metrics and provide insights into the performance of the organization.

Roles and responsibilities

Specifically, in the intern role, you will be responsible for activities related to supporting the daily work of the PA organization. The team combines the expertise of data science, behavioural science and business intelligence with business acumen in the employee insights and workforce planning spaces. The main activities you would be involved would be:

  • Supporting the PA squads to deliver on their operational agenda, preparing plans to deliver priorities and monitoring progress on projects and day-to day activities.
  • Acting as a sparring partner, sounding board and trouble shooter in day-to-day activities.
  • Supporting the team on operational activities, related to contracts with vendors, key performance tracking, preparing presentations for People Analytics management meetings, as well as other Senior Leadership team members.
  • Suggesting and implementing improvements to HR projects and processes, and ways of working, while working closely with our Communities of Expertise and Data teams.
  • Finally, you’ll will be responsible for your own HR project within the team which you will fully develop during your internship.

  • You understand the drivers of the ING business. You also have some knowledge of the internal Human Resources function and external Human Resources trends is preferred.
  • You have a consultancy style, the professionalism to work with senior management, and can work both independently and as part of a team.
  • You are strong in your analysis, planning & organisation skills.
  • You can set priorities in a fast-paced environment and escalate issues in a timely manner.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and high work pressure and can also work to tight deadlines.
  • You are hands-on, proactive, resourceful, and willing to go the extra mile.
  • You are a strong communicator at all levels of the organization (excellent written and verbal English language skills and story-telling abilities) and can be assertive when required.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • You are currently on track in your Bachelor (last year) or Master-studies, and you are fully available to help the team during your internship (30 to 36 hours per week agreement)
  • The internship agreement will be for a period of 5 to 9 months.
  • Knowledge of the HR function’s key processes would be advantageous.
