Financial Markets (FM) is the Bank’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. Our primary function is to service the needs of ING’s clients with products, services, and guidance. FM aims to be a significant player in our market leader and challenger markets, with an additional presence in all the major international markets and specialist expertise in selected emerging markets and products.

The team
The eFX sales team is an integral part of the ING Financial Markets business and is involved in driving the bank’s ambition for digitalisation. Our clients are based all over the world and are both institutional and corporate clients. Our main goal is to help our clients execute foreign exchange transactions electronically, as well as helping clients navigate the electronic FX landscape and make informed trading decisions. We offer a range of products, including FX spot, forwards, swaps, NDFs, options and algorithmic order strategies.  

Role & Work Environment
As an eFX Sales intern you will help shape the future of electronic foreign exchange by using data to uncover opportunities that create value for clients and improve business performance. Working closely with sales, trading, and technology teams, you will translate insights into tangible solutions and contribute to strategic initiatives across the FX business.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support projects aimed at improving client experience and strengthening ING's electronic FX franchise.
  • Analyse FX data to identify opportunities and areas for optimisation.
  • Create reports, dashboards and visualisations that help teams make data-driven decisions.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research in market developments.
  • Work alongside sales, trading and technology specialists to investigate business questions and develop solutions.
  • Present your findings and recommendations to stakeholders across Financial Markets.
  • Support initiatives that improve efficiency, collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s student in the final year of study (year 3) or Master’s student at a Dutch university (requirement).
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong advantage.
  • Proactive, organized and willing to take ownership of your work. 
  • A strong team player who enjoys working in diverse and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Interested in global markets, data analytics and technology.
  • Comfortable working with data and eager to develop analytical skills.
  • Experienced with Excel; knowledge of Power BI, Python, SQL or similar tools is a plus.
  • Good or excited to learn to communicate findings and ideas to different audiences.
