Are you passionate about building and supporting high-performance systems in a fast-paced financial environment? ING is looking for a skilled Ops Engineer to join our Global Equity Products Middleware (GEP MW) team on a temporary basis for one year. In this role, you’ll help maintain and enhance our trading infrastructure, ensuring seamless trade execution and reporting across global markets. The team

You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the GEP MW platform within ING’s Financial Markets. This platform acts as a central hub for routing trade executions and reconciliation reports from various trading systems to downstream applications for deal capture, position keeping, and reporting—all in near real-time.

Our mission is to deliver scalable, secure, and robust IT solutions that support the business and meet the demands of a dynamic trading environment. The team owns the full technology stack, including:

  • Automated testing and deployment
  • Incident and problem management
  • IT risk and compliance
  • Scripting and tooling development

Roles and responsibilities

As an Ops Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders in an international environment
  • Next to your daily OPS activities the team is looking for a passionate and experienced Scrum Master, this role rotates within the team
  • Maintain and improve the GEP MW platform to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
  • Manage incidents, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system availability
  • Contribute to team knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support IT risk and compliance processes

How to succeed

You have great analytical skills and conceptual understanding. You quickly understand new technical and non-technical concepts and you have a strong interest in the latest trends. You have strong communication skills and your English in speaking and writing is fluent. You are a team player who likes to join the social events of the squad and ING organisation.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is a pre
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting scalable, high-performance applications
  • Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL and Python
  • Solid understanding of MS Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Git and Azure DevOps
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Familiarity with real-time transactional systems
  • Knowledge of exchange-listed products in financial markets
