Would you like to make an impact on ING Netherlands’ strategic core? Do you have strong analytical and communication skills? Do you get energized from complexity? Then we are looking for you!

The team CoE Pricing Business Banking

The Center of Expertise Pricing Business Banking (“CoE Pricing”) is part of Business Development, a central department working for all products and customer segments of Business Banking Netherlands. Price is an important driver behind decisions made by our customers, and an important profitability driver for ING. With the strategic product-price positioning, we impact on the results of ING, customer behavior, credit and market risk, and perception of our customers, society, and shareholders. As CoE Pricing, we have a holistic view on Business Banking products and segments covering SEM, SME, MC, REF, Commercial Finance, and Lease.

Daily, we work together with a wide variety of stakeholders within the domestic and global bank (e.g. Sales, Service/Delivery tribes, Finance, Risk, Media Relations, Compliance and Legal).

Role & Responsibilities

  • The role of a pricing consultant is twofold: on the one hand, you are running the business and executing the pricing strategy, and on the other hand, you are working on strategic pricing projects to transform the business.
  • To illustrate, a pricing consultant is responsible for the list prices of all Business Banking products in the Netherlands based on market trends, cost price and risks developments and/or competition.
  • As a pricing consultant, you are E2E responsible for the pricing strategy, which means you prepare a pricing proposal, involve all relevant stakeholders, present the pricing proposal in the pricing committee, and are involved in external communication and implementation into the relevant operational systems.
  • Examples of projects: optimizing value-risk based pricing for lending, pricing for new payments propositions, price elasticity project and the savings strategy under several interest rate scenarios.
  • On a daily basis you are working in a team with seven other BB pricing experts and a data analyst.
  • Besides, you collaborate closely with (senior) stakeholders from Sales, Easy Banking, Delivery Tribes (e.g. Daily Banking, Customer Data, Payments, Business Lending), Finance, Legal, Compliance, Credit and Market Risk Management.
  • Moreover, you will become part of the Pricing Community within NL to share best practices and align pricing topics across products within ING.

How to succeed

  • Fluent in English and Dutch on at least B2 level.
  • Strong analytical skills: you are able to analyze large data sets and can translate complex analyses into simple and explainable business proposals.
  • Communication / stakeholder management skills: You can develop a vision, taking all different stakeholder interests into consideration and you can translate complex matters into an easy-to-follow storyline in PowerPoint.
  • Impact & Ownership: You actively look for improvements in product and price propositions to optimize value creation for ING. You dare to do things differently in a decisive and result orientated way.
  • You are a team-player and get energized from working in a dynamic environment.
  • You have completed a university education, preferably in Business Economics, Business Administration, Econometrics, or a related field.
  • Experience with preparing proposals, business cases and presentations for senior management is a plus.
  • Experience with different pricing models such as value-based pricing, behavioural pricing and cost-price plus pricing is a plus.
  • Experience within Business Banking is a plus.

Research shows that some candidates feel confident enough to apply when they meet about 60% of the requirements, other candidates only apply when they tick every box. So, if this role has your name on it, but you’re not sure about the criteria, we still want to hear from you!
