We are looking for an Senior Capital Management Analyst to strengthen the Balance Sheet & Capital Management department within Group Treasury.

The team

Group Treasury has the responsibility to ensure that ING’s capital, funding and liquidity positions are adequate at all times, commensurate with ING’s consolidated businesses and their plans, both in a business as usual situation as well as in stressed situations. It is acting as ING’s window to the market to hedge market risks, to raise both long and short term debt instruments and to actively manage ING’s high quality liquid asset buffer.

Capital Management is tasked to optimize ING’s capital and debt position in order to meet regulatory requirements, while supporting business growth, ensuring coupon payments and rewarding shareholders in line with ING’s dividend policy. The department is the gatekeeper of all internal capital flows and acts, in close cooperation with other departments within Group Treasury, as the execution arm of the board on market transactions to secure the capital supply necessary for implementing all strategic initiatives.

Furthermore, the department advises the Board on dividend policy, capital allocation, contingency planning, cost of capital as well as many other strategic priorities.

Roles and responsibilities

You will be working in the Capital Management team, where your role will include:

  • You will be responsible for everything on how we allocate and invest capital, charge entities for allocated capital, as well as keep track on the physical (cash) capital. This also means that you monitor the Capital Books and the resulting P&L.

  • Part of the role is also to become the specialist on Capital Optimisation initiatives. This entails identifying Capital/RWA inefficiencies and bringing stakeholders together to work on optimisation initiatives. Impacts may result from new regulation. Your role is to ensure these impacts are allocated to the business and at the same time work on tools that could mitigate impacts. Tools may include changing the balance sheet / asset mix, Significant Risk Transfers, active collateral management, guarantees or simply data quality initiatives.

  • Overseeing the development of the cash balances of ING Group and ING Bank to service external payment obligations (dividends, payments for the share buyback programme). Continuously investigate possibilities to streamline the process of dividend upstream. Ensure actual dividend received from locations are correct and in a timely manner.

  • You set the guidelines around Interest Rate and FX Risk to capital, be involved in the capital investment process and its impact on our P&L.

As a Senior Analyst you have the following traits and experience:

  • Master’s degree in finance or econometrics, with above-average academic grades

  • >8 yrs of work experience in Treasury, Risk Management or Finance

  • Strong stakeholder management skills (e.g. experience of running Projects)

  • Knowledge on database and some basic programming skills

  • Knowledge on ING systems (MASS, Vortex) is required

  • IT-savvy and proficient in MS Office (especially MS Excel)

  • Knowledge of risk models

  • Independent

  • ‘Track record’ of orange code behaviours

  • Be a step ahead, anticipate potential problems

  • Excellent / native level in written English

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Result driven; risk aware

  • Structured way of working

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts and ideas both verbally and in writing

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, multicultural awareness and sensitivity
