PSS as service provider for payments and settlement services.

Payments are indispensable to and an integral part of our lives as individuals, as businesses and to our organisation. ING’s Payment and Settlement Services (“PSS”) is a professional services provider in payments, settlements, and open banking. PSS is building a global payments platform to consolidate all of ING’s payments volumes resulting in cost-efficiency for ING and a more strengthened and centralised control environment for payments. PSS is an independent unit within ING’s COO domain, reporting directly into ING’s COO. PSS is a Business Services oriented organisation. To deliver on our ambitious roadmap, we have organised ourselves into a strong strategic and commercially focused organisation around our services.

Currently we are looking for a Customer Journey Expert within the SEPA Direct Debits area.


PSS works according to Agile principles in self-organizing teams. Together with other CJE’s you have an end-to-end responsibility for the running and developing the SEPA Direct Debit Service. 

Roles and responsibilities

  • Maximizing business value through ordering and prioritizing the product backlog features and stories;
  • Actively involved in the creation of Epics, Features, User Stories and Tasks;
  • Build and maintain strong relations with important key-stakeholders (Risk, Legal, Compliance, Audit, service consumers, service providers, Finance, Tax, Sales);
  • Solve impediments encountered in the development of the Service;
  • Active and timely Backlog management in collaboration with business and other IT stakeholders, with the ability to adapt quickly to impediments and challenges;
  • Ensuring that functional and non-functional requirements are defined and met. Non-functional requirements include, but are not limited to security, resilience, performance, contractual, legal and compliance requirements and obligations; 
  • Be in control regarding Risk and Compliance;  
  • Create a solid base with your development and operations team.

Furthermore, you have:

  • 5+ years experience in Agile environments in a corporate set-up and guiding on and offshore teams;
  • 5+ years experience in SEPA Direct Debits in a banking environment;
  • Excellent in English (Dutch is a pre); 
  • You are pro-active, excellent team player and have a natural drive to act and deliver results on time;
  • Take initiative, work accurately and in a structured and disciplined manner, have patience and resilience to handle setbacks; 
  • You are highly self-organizing, pragmatic, and always seek opportunities to improve your work;
  • Have a sharp eye for details, while not losing the overall picture.
