Insurance Finance Expert

Make impact where banking meets insurance. Join the team that’s shaping ING insurances’ next chapter.

Earlier this year, ING made headlines across FD, AMweb and Banken.nl with the launch of its Managing General Agent (MGA) proposition, a bold step into the future of bancassurance. Now, we’re building on that momentum. Fast.

At ING Insurance, we are scaling this proposition into a fully-fledged, future-proof insurance business. Taking control over product, pricing and customer journeys. And this is where you come in. The foundation is there. The first product is live. Now we scale.

Your role: driving financial control in a scaling business

Why this role is different

This is not a “business as usual” finance role. You step into:

  • A new business within ING, still being shaped
  • A high-energy, entrepreneurial environment
  • A team with strong ambition and ownership
  • A setup where your improvements directly impact growth and scalability

You are not just managing processes; you are building them for scale.

The role

As Insurance Finance Expert, you play a key role in bringing structure, control and scalability to a fast-growing proposition within ING.

You combine financial expertise with a pragmatic mindset and help translate complexity into clarity — across data, processes and reporting.

You will:

  • Functionally lead a small team (2 FTE) responsible for daily financial operations
  • Design and optimize end-to-end financial flows across the MGA landscape
  • Increase control & efficiency by improving (currently manual) processes
  • Bridge finance, data and operations into actionable insights
  • Work closely with stakeholders such as Financial Accounting and Management Accounting
  • Contribute directly to scaling our insurance proposition within ING

Your key responsibilities

We are looking for a driven and experienced professional with a strong background in financial operations. In this role, you will functionally lead a small team of two colleagues responsible for the day-to-day execution of financial operational activities, ensuring continuity, quality, and control across processes.

In addition, you will drive the mapping of end-to-end financial flows and implement optimization layers aimed at reducing operational effort, increasing efficiency and demonstrate control effectiveness. You are able to bridge the gap between data, operations, and reporting, and translate complex financial and product-related challenges into practical improvements.

You bring solid financial and accounting expertise, combined with proven experience in improving financial operational processes. You are a strong stakeholder manager, capable of navigating a complex internal and external stakeholder landscape

  • Working together with colleagues having different expertise in self-steering teams.
  • Be the insurance finance expert in the team, gaining and sharing knowledge of the financial processes and data with the team.
  • Ensuring seamless customer journeys that ensure the best possible online experience for our customers by providing your colleagues with thorough analysis based on data that you make available in the ING systems
  • Implementing the strategy taking ING’s priorities and customer’s expectations into consideration.
  • Managing the collaboration with our current and future internal stakeholders like Financial Accounting and Management Accounting.
  • Define improvements in the current (manual) finance processes.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on the responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree
  • Background in Finance, accounting and data management experience
  • Good analytical skills
  • Proven planning & organizational skills
  • Hands-on and pro-active mentality in order to structure elements
  • Affinity with both risk and compliance related topics as well as IT related topics
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
