The Mission

You are an energetic Dev Engineer with a passion for IT, linking with the business and a positive can-do mindset. You are a team player working as a core member of a multidisciplinary and cross-functional squad whom primary driver is the customer. Close collaboration within and across the squads and with the consumer is of utmost importance for you.

You will join the GDD  IT Chapter, which is part of the IT PSS in Brussels. You are providing software engineering capabilities of bringing business requirements translated to the technological requirements for developing features on the Direct debit domain, more specific the clearing.

The team functions in a cross-border, Agile way of working and all staff join forces to deliver the priorities as efficiently as possible, making use of experience, knowledge, availability, motivation of everybody. As such, you will have the possibility to be active in other tasks of the team making the job varied and technically enriching.

Your day to day

  • As a Dev Engineer you are responsible for the development and design of Direct debit components including :

' Gathering requirements

' Functional and technical analysis and designs

' Coordinating with other Building Blocks

' Test input

' Resolving incidents and supporting the application

  • You write comprehensive technical-functional and user manuals;

  • You apply continuous delivery practices as part of your daily work;

  • You implement all mandatory security standards to ensure IT risk is and remains under control;

  • You perform Life Cycle Management (including decommissioning if needed);

  • You have functional knowledge of banking/products. Knowledge of the pricing and billing domain is a major plus;

  • Contribute to the new way of working;

  • You use your technical expertise and experience to contribute to the Agile ceremonies in a Spotify model (stand-up, refinement, retrospective, marketplace…);

  • Where possible and needed, you take on tasks/activities that contribute to the purpose, even when they are not entirely within your area of expertise;

  • You continuously develop your own expertise while gathering, updating and spreading knowledge about developments and challenges regarding your area of expertise by embedding lessons learned and best practices.

What you'll bring to the team

  • Strong knowledge of JAVA is a must;

  • Experience with Akka, Kafka, Elastic, Spring boot, Rest API, Azure pipeline, IntelliJ, Kibana, SQL, Oracle;

  • Experience in Banking and/or sepa clearing is a plus;

  • Education and Professional certifications;

  • You have strong communication skills (internal in the team as well as cross-team);

  • IT market focus: seeking for major trends in the new way of working, including Lean IT, continuous delivery, cloud processes, etc;

  • Eagerness to learn and ability to coach others.

Foreign languages: English (advanced)

Education: nice to have Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in an IT related field.
