A day in the life of the Chapter Lead Cobol

  • You combine leading a devops team (chapter lead role) and engineering.
  • You actively coach and encourage +/-  12 chapter members (5 internals + 6/7 externals) to develop themselves. You help them being successful in their day to day. You hire new talent.
  • The scope of your chapter is linked to the Cobol technology which is crucial for the continued critical role of CSI in the future and its transition in the context of New Banking Platform. Since NBP will take years, it will be key to keep the technical knowledge, retain the people and help them upskilling where needed.  
  • As an engineer yourself, depending on your skills you will work either on the further evolution of CSI or in one of the different epics of the New Banking Platform Customer Data migration (e.g. new local PAM, called the Managed Auxiliary Data Platform).

The team

  • The IT area “Customer Data and Onboarding” focus on the customer onboarding digital journeys and the customer processes and data. The IT applications are at the heart of the bank, so the area is collaborating locally and globally with many tribes.
  • In the coming years the area will continue to work on strategic digitalization projects, contribution to ING group solutions and a huge modernization of the IT landscape.
  • The area consists of more than 120 engineers, located in Brussels, India and Manilla.
