Your role & work environment

As Legal Operations Lead within ING Belgium’s Legal Department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the legal function. Combining legal insight, operational expertise, and project leadership, you will drive initiatives that make Legal more efficient, innovative, and future-ready.

You will join the Corporate Support & Legal Operations (CLO) team and report to the Head of CLO.

Your key responsibilities

  • Drive operational excellence by reviewing, optimizing, and implementing legal processes and ways of working.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation, automation, and continuous improvement across the Legal function.

  • Lead strategic projects and change initiatives impacting the Legal department and its stakeholders.

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver projects using appropriate project management methodologies.

  • Translate legal requirements into efficient operational processes and practical solutions.

  • Leverage technology, AI, and data-driven approaches to improve Legal operations.

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization and build strong working relationships.

  • Ensure activities, decisions, risks, and project progress are appropriately documented and communicated.

What we are looking for

You are a proactive and solution-oriented professional who enjoys challenging the status quo and driving meaningful change in a complex environment.

You bring:

  • Strong understanding of the legal function within a financial institution or complex international environment.
  • Experience in process improvement, transformation, operational excellence, or project management.
  • Knowledge of or strong interest in AI, technology, data enablement, and digital transformation.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, research, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
  • The ability to influence, engage, and inspire colleagues through change.
  • A hands-on mentality with a pragmatic and results-driven approach.
  • Curiosity, resilience, and eagerness to learn and grow.

Education & experience

  • A degree in Law, Economics, Business, or a related field is an asset.

  • Demonstrable experience in Legal Operations, transformation, process management, project management, or a related area is highly valued.

  • Genuine interest in the legal function and its interaction with business and technology.

Languages

  • Professional working proficiency in Dutch, French, and English (spoken and written).
